Escaped Chasm

Despite being a game, you can get through in under an hour, Escaped Chasm is a game that stayed with me for a long time after I played through it. This game was brought to us by the very talented, Temmie Chang who you might know as the artist from the awesome game Undertale. This was her first effort and it is truly something special that I cannot recommend highly enough.

This Is The Story Of A Loney Girl

I so want to get in-depth about the story of what Escaped Chasm is all about as that is the most engaging aspect of the game. However, the less you know the better the game is going to be for you so I will just give you the basics. You play a lonely girl who through her dreams sees an exciting and more interesting world through the eyes of a girl she greatly admires.

The lonely girls’ parents end up missing, there is a demon, her world is falling apart and there are even more twists and turns. Despite the game taking under an hour to beat, the story packs quite the punch and leaves you wanting to know more which I think is a good thing.

Color Me Bad!

If you played Undertale then the visual style of Escaped Chasm will not surprise you. Temmie Chang has an incredible imagination and the way she has created this world is truly incredible stuff. The game has a great use of color it has a “purple” tint to pretty much everything and I am not sure why it works, but it does and it makes everything stand out.

The game has some fantastic sprite work as you play, but there is also some impressive cinematic style stuff that moves the story along as well which I liked. The soundtrack is just perfect and very haunting in places. The whole thing really does compel you to keep playing and help this lonely girl.

Where Are My Parents?

The gameplay takes place over the course of a few days. You control the lonely girl and you explore her house. Here you can interact with various things and move the story forward as you try to find out what is going on.

The game is easy to figure out, but you will want to interact with everything you can to find out as much as you can about what is going on here. The game does an incredible job of making you want to help this girl, but also find out what is really going on. There are two different endings to check out so there is a reason to go back and play it all again.

• I love the style of the game
• The lonely girl is a very interesting character
• It has a very clever and great use of color
• Two different endings
• Everything about this game makes you want to know more about its world and characters

Cons:

• It can be beaten in well under an hour
• I really hope that we get a full sequel to this at some point
