Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn

Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn is a lewd visual novel that is really going for the wow factor. This game has a ton of lewd scenes, different endings, and some great looking characters. It is the kind of game that is all about the hot and erotic sex scenes, more so than the story, but that is not to say that the story is bad. However, I do think that you will start to skim over things towards the end so that you can get to the next XXX scene.

Strange But True

The premise of the story in Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn is that the town of Vaulinhorn was once a very good and nice place to live. However, recently, people have started going missing, and there is just a really strange feeling around the place. There is a more mature woman called Maive, and she is trying to figure out what is going on, and she is pretty much who we are working for. Maive also has several people living with her, whom you will get to know a lot better as you go about your quest, trying to figure out why people are going missing.

Speaking of Mob Wars!

The thing with the story of Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn is that it likes to repeat itself. I thought that it was going really well, and when we found out that there were these four boss/gangster type characters that were the cause of the trouble, I thought that things really picked up. However, this is a game that really does love its recaps! The number of times that the story repeats itself to tell you the exact same information you just got before is crazy, and more often than not, they use the exact same images to tell you the story that you already know! There is a good story here, but it is hard to keep focused on it as you have to keep hearing the same stuff over and over again.

Now, This Holds My Attention!

Thankfully, the visuals of Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn are incredible. I get that the character renders may be a tad too “stacked” for some people to consider them truly realistic, but I think they look hot! The game has a ton of animated sex scenes, and the animation is nice and smooth. Some of the story is also told with animated cutscenes, and there is a bit of voice acting here as well. Honestly, the presentation is so good that was what probably stopped me from going insane that I was hearing the same story over and over again, as at least it looked great!

Hit Me Baby One More Time!

Don’t judge me for that reference; Britney Spears is an absolute pop legend and a pop culture icon! Anyway, back on track! Gameplay wise, Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn is a pretty standard lewd visual novel where you read a bit of the story and then make a decision in regards to a character's reaction, what they say, and so on. The twist here is that this game has lots of choices, many different sex scenes, and multiple endings too! It is impossible to see all that this game has to offer in one playthrough. On one hand that is awesome, but it does mean that if you do want to see all of the XXX scenes and the different ways that the story can come to a conclusion, you will have to deal with the four main recaps probably 12 or so times!

Pros:

• The story does have a lot of promise and a good setup
• There are some very nice looking characters
• I enjoyed the more exaggerated body proportions
• It is very impressive how much of this game is animated

Cons:

• The way the story repeats itself becomes very tiresome
• The sex scenes are hot, but some feel disconnected from the story

Fate and Life: The Mystery of Vaulinhorn is an erotic visual novel with elements of a detective investigation. Nothing strange has happened in a small provincial town since 1714, but in 2020 several people disappear without a trace. The mysterious case has been handed over to detective Maeve Clara Rose and now the heroine has to investigate the intricate case and not become a part of it.
