Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters

It is crazy to think that Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters is the latest game in a series that spans over 20 years and started all the way back on the PlayStation 3. I have to admit, I was kind of unsure that this would get a Western release, but here we are and today we are taking a look at why I feel this could be one of the best games in the series to date and one of the games that is great for long time fans and those new to the series too.

Finding Hope In Despair

I know that the story of this series is a bit kooky for some people, but Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters has a story that I could not be any more interested in. Nepgear and a few other Goddess Candidates were sent on a mission, but something went wrong and they were trapped for two years! Once they are awoken, they are shocked to discover that Neptunia has been missing the whole time they were trapped and that the land has fallen into darkness, and only they can stand up and try to bring hope back!

Hacking And Slashing With Fashion!

One of the things that I think makes this series and Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters so addictive is the hack and slash style gameplay. This game is the kind of game that is very easy to pick up and I can see why some people do compare it to the Dynasty Warriors series of games. However, there is far more depth here. I do feel that you could muscle your way through the game just by hacking and slashing, but there is a team dynamic here as you can have three party members at a time in a battle and matching them just right can get you various stat boosts. Above all else, the core gameplay is just a great deal of fun.

She’s Got The Look!

Did I really just drop a Roxette reference in this Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters review? Well, it is pretty fitting as a huge part of the fun of this series is the customization of the characters you can do. You can get various accessories as you progress through the game and with these you can change the look of your character quite drastically. There is so much stuff here that you can truly make your character look unique, this is a very fun and addictive aspect of the series and it looks even more in depth here.

So Many Styles

Back in the day when I first encountered this series, it was the art style that grabbed me at first. Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters is the best looking game in the series to date. It has that same bright, colorful anime style that the series is known for, but man is it so much more impressive this time around! It has bits of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Genshin Impact, and even a bit of Zelda too about it in my opinion. This is also one of the more story driven games in the series so far and the cinematics in the game are jaw dropping.

Pros:

• I am loving the story that is being told in this game
• It is so bright and colorful, like you are in an interactive manga!
• The character development is arguably the best the series has seen
• The hack and slash style gameplay is very addictive

Cons:

• While there is depth to the gameplay, some may just spam their way through the game
• The story is very “anime” which may not appeal to everyone
