The Alchemist of Ars Magna

While the price of The Alchemist of Ars Magna may seem off putting to some people, I feel that this is pretty close to being a AAA lewd dungeon crawler as you are going to get. It is a fully fledged and fully developed lewd dungeon crawler RPG and it is a game that I had been meaning to get around to for ages. To be honest, I was kind of hopeful that a buddy would gift it to me, but alas, I ended up with a gift card so I thought what the hell and actually paid for this game.

The Legend Is Certainly There

When it comes to the story that The Alchemist of Ars Magna is trying to tell, I feel like they come like 90 percent of the way to pulling it off. The game takes place in a world full of magic or alchemy as the game calls it. These man made gods protected the land and people go to an alchemy school to learn the art of magic and protection. However, there is an evil entity known as The Dust that is sweeping over the land and corrupting the gods and the world in general and we as a new student at this school get thrust into this story!

Hiring The Right People!

That premise I just described makes The Alchemist of Ars Magna sound really cool right? Well, it is, but the problem is that I thought the setup and the lore they were building were great. This game has two issues that stop the story from really getting you invested. First of all, they needed to hire more people to check the script as the translation is very rough, missing words, stuff that makes no sense, and just flat out weird translations here and there make the story far harder to follow than it needs to be. Also, I hate to say this, but the characters despite having a cool fantasy look to them are as dull as dishwater!

Going Another Round

While the story may not have exactly grabbed me even though I thought the premise of The Alchemist of Ars Magna was interesting. The gameplay loop here is pretty awesome. It is most certainly best described as a lewd RPG. You usually start with a visual novel section, you then have to play around with your items and doing crafting, alchemy, and stuff like that. You then do your dungeon crawling stuff before engaging with a boss and then doing some more visual novel stuff. It is a good gameplay loop that never got old and It was the gameplay that kept me interested until the end. You have two routes that the story can go, but the “law” route is the one you want to do as the chaos one made even less sense to me!

Hot, Horny Hentai!

The visuals of The Alchemist of Ars Magna are fantastic and a huge reason why I feel like this game gets away with the asking price that it has. I was very impressed with the character and enemy designs as they have a ton of personality and in some ways make up for their less than interesting actual personalities! The lewd content here is done very well and has a high end hentai vibe about it. I will say that I wish there was a bit more variety to the girl’s facial expressions when they are actually have sex as they all kind of look the same! Still, it is very well drawn and some of the scenes are incredibly hot.

• The characters look great, but they are not very interesting
