Crystal Quest

It's fast, it's frustrating, it's addictive, it's Crystal Quest. This Macintosh favorite is now ready to rip on the Game Boy. You're questing for crystals in this Aster-oids-style shoot-em-up game. While piloting a micro-dot of a spacecraft, you must gather up all the crystals and escape out the exit area before enemy crafts blast you to smithereens. Easier said than done. The higher the level the greater the number of enemies and crystals. Only the best can complete the Crystal Quest. Have you got what it takes?

If you've ever wiled away time playing Crystal Quest on a Macintosh computer, you'll be happy to hear that the game's been successfully shrunk to pocket-size for the Game Boy. Now you can wile away even more time with this incredibly simple but very addicting cart.

The name of the game's the same and so's the gameplay. One or two players (alternating) pilot a tiny ship around the screen and fire a gun. Your task is to clear each screen or Wave by gathering up all the crystals onscreen, which opens a gate to the next Wave.

Harvesting crystals is easier said than done. A gang of foes emerges from two gates at the left and right sides of the screen. Some of these enemies, like the Annoyer, are harmless. Others, like the Husket, are downright mean as they buzz by firing high-speed bullets. You don't have to destroy enemies to clear a Wave, but you do have to dodge them. With succeeding Waves the enemies become more numerous and more persistant.

Luckily you get a little help. Earn extra ships by shooting enemies for points, collecting special bonus crystals, or clearing a Wave within the time limit

Overall Crystal Quest translates well to the Game Boy format As usual the Game Boy screen is tough on the eyes. Other than that, no complaints! It's easy to control the ship, and the game keeps you busy. Crystal Quest is a good Game Boy fun - and that's crystal clear!
