Speed through the awe-inspiring European countryside like never before in Forza Horizon 2, one of the most exciting open-world racing games of its era. Strapped into your perfect race car, fully customized to your heart's content, you'll blaze a trail as you burn rubber across a massive map full of fun events to complete. Supporting both offline solo gameplay and online multiplayer, Forza Horizon 2 packs all of the high-speed action you could want. Carve your path through fields, streets, and hills and battle to the top of the pack as you fight to become the best racer of them all.
Main Game Features
- Race through open-world France and Italy
- Over 300 cars to try and buy
- Complete solo races or challenge friends online
Gameplay
Forza Horizon 2 is an open-world racing game that mixes elements of the main Forza Motorsport franchise with the arcade-like driving of games like Need for Speed. As a new racer heading to the Horizon festival in Europe, you'll get to race through several real life locations, such as Sisteron, France, and Liguria, Italy. However, the map is completely open to your exploration, as you are not limited by specific tracks or roadways. Instead, Forza Horizon 2 expects players to fly off the street, taking their talents off-road, to the top of mountains, and beyond.
Almost every improvement possible has been made to this sequel, which is saying a lot, as the original Forza Horizon was already a great game. Forza Horizon 2 contains over 300 cars to choose from, including popular brands like Toyota, Bugatti, Audi, Ford, and more. Every car can be tuned and adjusted to your liking, down to specific car functions like brakes, acceleration, and top speed. Creating your perfect car is a core idea in Forza Horizon 2, so you'll also be able to outfit your car with decals, special paints, and parts.
Modes and Features
Like every other racing game, Forza Horizon 2 is full of fun events to try, where you'll race against computer-controlled opponents across multiple countries. All of the normal race types are available, including sprints, circuit, and marathons, with a few special race types to fill in the gaps. Your overall goal is to defeat all the other Horizon Festival racers, reach the top of the rankings, and become the festival hero! Of course, the festival isn't the only focus, as Forza Horizon 2 adds several solo game styles never before seen. For example, you can tackle some truly difficult objectives through the Bucket List, a brand new gameplay feature that will push you to your limits. Each Bucket List objective will encourage you to try new vehicles, pulling off incredible stunts to clear the list.
If you like multiplayer racing, you're in for a treat, since Forza Horizon 2 also puts a big focus on online play. For starters, you don't have to race against all of your opponents, as the game includes a cooperative feature. This means that you can queue up your favorite race and speed around the track with a friend, working together to beat the rest of the racers. Competitive racing is also available, with special multiplayer race types like King of the Hill and Infected. If you just want to kick back and chat with other racing fans, you can socialize in the Car Meet mode, showing off your wheels and shooting the breeze with anyone on your server. There are tons of multiplayer options for you and your friends to try, whether you want to compete or work together.
Conclusion
In both single-player and multiplayer modes, Forza Horizon 2 takes things to the next level. As you speed through France and Italy, you'll see some amazing sights, trade paint with opponents, and cause some real mayhem.
You don't have to be a professional driver to enjoy the game, since the arcade-like racing makes it easy to control your car. Overall, this is an ideal racing game for players who want to cause chaos and go fast, without having to think too hard about it.

Game Reviews
This is one of the most fun racing games of all times. Playground Games took many of the best parts of the original game and found ways to make the game even better in their latest version. Whether you’re driving one of the hottest hot rods in the game or a tractor, the feedback and driving experience feels right for the job.
On top of this, the game no longer forces you to drive a particular car to complete the game. If you like, you can skip that pathway and climb into the cars you’re most interested in. This really takes a lot of the burden of the original Forza Horizon away, making it a truly fantastic adventure. While there’s ups and downs to any games, Forza Horizon 2 is for the most part a great improvement and a delightful romp in the world of car racing.
Go Wild With Cross County
A new race type in Forza Horizon 2 is the cross-country races. Instead of being limited to a roadway or a racetrack, these cross-country races have you blowing across fields or whipping through vineyards. Blowing apart a fence as you careen around corners adds a truly exhilarating experience to the game, and makes driving a variety of vehicles more fun. This alone makes Forza Horizon 2 a better game than before, but Playground Games isn’t done with the improvements to your experience.
Skill Points Are Useful Now
In Forza Horizon, you could earn skill points but they weren’t especially useful. They had a general effect on your popularity, and that’s about it. Forza Horizon 2 has breathed new life to skill points with a variety of ways you can spend accrued points. Now you can also get discounts on cars, and a little bit of bonus time in the “Infected” mode of gameplay.
Although it’s a relatively small difference, the fact that the skill points have more value make gathering them more fun, and with over 700 events to gather them in, there’s no shortage of ways to do it.
Beautiful Lighting
One other notable change is the sheer beauty of the world with its new lighting. The picturesque Italian country side is beautiful to drive through during the day, but it really pops at night. The developers clearly spent a lot of time working on the lighting to make sure everything from your headlight beams in the darkness, to how water reflects light looks.
Many times, when we see an update to an old game, it feels like just a cash grab. Forza Horizon 2 is nothing of the sort, with a generous number of new cars, a large world to explore, and everything modernized and updated. If you loved the original, or perhaps wished it was better, Forza Horizon 2 is the answer to your dreams.
Pros:
- A huge variety of vehicles that feel realistic
- Wild rides through the country side with cross-country racing
- Actual use for all those skill points
Cons:
- None
If you are a car enthusiast and sometimes like to dab in the occasional racing challenges, then Forza Horizon 2 is the game for you. This time you don’t have to stand beside a supercar with your phone trying to take videos and pictures of people’s supercars. You can get a chance to own and drive one virtually with the Forza Horizon game series.
The game series takes you to a fantasy world where roads are not restricted with barriers and the storyline follows a deviate from modern driving to classical driving. The quest for classical cars in barns makes the off-road driving experience with a supercar satisfying as after the finds these classical cars need restoration.
The Distinctiveness of Forza Horizon 2
Owning Horizon 2 rebottles the winning formula established by its predecessor and then some. For sure there is an updated roster of 200+ cars at your disposal considered to be the best lineup in the open world of car racing business. You are assured to feel the distinctiveness when driving each model, unlike other racing games where the controls feel the same in every car you drive.
You can expect the same crispness and sharpness from the supercars and the suitable soggy drag from the SUV indicating that everything has been honed to signify reality. This time Playground Games have set the playground to be in the countryside of northern Italy and southern France almost to serve Forza’s fans satisfaction who have spent most of their past decade watching Top Gear tour the same landscapes.
The Gameplay
As you relax on your couch and load the game on your Xbox 360 console, there is always that little feeling of excitement that you get from the notion that you have completed everything important for the day and can have an uninterrupted long session with the game. Forza Horizon 2 exemplifies the beauty in cars as if they are living things. Holding the pad in your arms and driving a supercar brings out the wildness in the metal beast while it becomes your sole duty to tame the car. For first time players, you have to get to know the car and hear it purr before indulging in any races.
Feeling the car is an aspect that has to be mastered because you could lose control drifting into hug the complex curves. Therefore, wrestling the cars into submission is key to its control. All I am saying is that the handling of cars in the game is quite majestic and different from any other car games.
The game is centred along with a storyline that enables you to participate in over 700 different events and collect classical cars while you are at it. Playground Games addition of the new Bucket List challenges is an appreciated twist to the Forza franchise.
