The whole time I was playing Glamour I kept getting a real sense that this was a game I had played before. Yet despite this feeling, I could not put my finger on why I felt like I had not just played the game before, but had memories of these characters. It was a very strange reason and from what I have read I was not the only one to feel like while playing this lewd game! You see, I would later learn that this is a remake or rehash if you want to be harsh about it of another game known as big brother!
A Strange Kind Of Scholarship
One thing that I will say in the defense of Glamour is that if you have not played the game Big Brother, none of the things that feel overly familiar, mainly the characters will bother you here. The basics are that we get to play as either a male or a female character and we are heading off to college. What is weird about this is that our college experience is going to be free, as long as we follow a set of very specific rules! You can see where this is going a mile away and there are many different characters that you have to interact with, but the story just felt a bit too slow for my liking.
Guide? What Guide???
Above all else, the main problem that I had with Glamour was the gameplay! To start with there is a lot of grinding here, the amount of clicking to progress that happens here feels very unfair. To be honest, I have played many lewd sandbox and visual novel style games before with grinding and I can usually get past it. The thing is, this is what I would class as a “what the hell am I supposed to do?” kind of game. You 100 percent have to use a guide, but the first guide I found made things even more confusing! Make sure you have a guide open at all times when you play this or it will become a very frustrating experience.
At Least They Are Pretty
From what I can tell, Glamour uses the same characters from the game Big Brother (minus the most annoying douche!) and I am ok with that. This is a great looking game with some very slick and attractive looking character models and plenty of sex scenes, it just takes a while to get to the good stuff. Also, I feel that most of the attention here was put into the male character story rather than the female one. If there is anything that is going to make you really want to play through this, it will be those fantastic character renders.
I have to say that I do not think that Glamour is a horrible game like some people do. I liked the character models enough to try and get as far as I could through the game and I even tried both the male and female character story as well.
However, the progression in the game is way more frustrating than it is fun. Not knowing exactly where to go, what to say, and what to do 99 percent of the time really does suck most of the fun out of it.
Pros:
- I did like some of the characters
- The character renders are very well done
- The sex scenes that I saw were very good
- I do think that somewhere in here is a decent story
Cons:
- The game is way too cryptic and hard to know what you are supposed to do
- The male version of events has way more going on than the female one
