Oyako Rankan

Those who want a visual novel that has a bit more of a strategic element to it are just the folks that Oyako Rankan is aimed at. There is not actually a ton of information about this game floating around. However, once I read the synopsis for it, I thought that it sounded very interesting and that I needed to give it a try and see what it was like.

Hell Comes To Frog Town?

You ever see that movie with Rowdy Roddy Piper, Hell Comes To Frog Town? Well, that is the kind of vibe I got with the story that Oyako Rankan was telling. The story is about a brother and sister who when they were younger, there was a bad fire, and as a result, they ended up moving and living with the Kamishiro household. As they grow, she is looked at as a daughter and the boy ends up working as a butler for the house.

The thing is, this family is known for having a ritual orgy called The Feast where women can get pregnant and it just so happens that the main dude is the one who needs to nail and impregnate all of these women. I thought that the storytelling was done very well and it was way darker and had more twists and surprises than I thought that it would.

It Is All Up To Your Plums

The gameplay on offer here is that you have to read and follow the story. You need to pay attention to what the vast amount of characters you come into contact with say and want and then try and answer accordingly. Oyako Rankan has many of the usual visual novel tropes and I am fine with that.

What I feel sets this apart from others is that it does have a bit of strategy and RPG style elements at play here. The main character has 35 days to get a woman pregnant and there is quite a lot that goes into this, there is almost a kind of battle system at play here as you need to keep an eye on a girl's chastity meter and also her affection for you.

The Heat Of The Moment

I really like what they have done with the visuals in Oyako Rankan. You have the visual novel aspect of the game and these sections are done very well and have an extremely high level of polish and detail to them. I was very impressed and can see why so many people are into this game based on the way it looks alone.

You also have some very nice and clean looking menu-based screens as well. Not to mention what I guess is best described as a map style screen which is done with a more “cartoon” look to it, but it also has that same high-level of detail which is neat.

Pros:

• I thought the story was an interesting idea
• I liked how there was a real “secrecy” about the story
• Plenty of interesting characters to chat with
• I liked the look of the game
• It has some very hot and sexy XXX content

Cons:

• I can see some people getting bored quite quickly
• The strategy aspect of the game can be hard to figure out at first
