A Weekend with Jeff's Father is a controversial visual novel by DDfunlol that leaves a mixed impression on gamers - specific humor, bestiality, a vinaigrette-like plot, and strange fetishes.

Overall impression

Everything that happens in the game is like the dream of an epileptic who is in the first stage of learning standup - the plot twists are very unexpected (sometimes shocking). To be fair, the story is extremely silly. About stand-up I did not just mention, because throughout the gameplay the player will read a text filled with two kinds of jokes: low humor and a very distinctive, we can say the local humor developers, which is not caught from the first reading, but when you catch it, it does not get funnier. Of course, there are people who will enjoy all this vinaigrette bacchanalia and who will find themselves grabbing their tummy from laughing on the rug at home. The text itself is a fan favorite - because the main character thinks he's cocky and always sharp on his word. This applies both to just the characters he gets his hands on and to the women he is perpetually displeased with (though very fond of them).

The Wrong Engine

A Weekend with Jeff's Father is made on the wrong engine (RPG Maker) of the old generation and therefore the whole game can be laggy. It's not that critical, but I've seen obvious bugs when switching game frames, when text tiles appear, when character models change position. You could call this kind of game operation clumsy and unstable. The role-playing component of the game is almost absent, so that the potential of the engine is not used, it was more profitable for DDFunlol to make the game on the Ren'Py platform.

Gameplay

Gameplay - standard features, as in any visual novel, plus some sandbox elements. The user can switch frames one by one as they read the credits. Frame switching can be automated. It is from the dialogues that the player understands the story, with the prologue at the beginning helping to get into the story. Elements of the sandbox are made sloppily, unprofessionally, take even the moment when the wife and husband spend the night together: the player needs to connect a few species. Some users complain that they get stuck at this point, because no switching helps to complete the event and players find themselves in a vicious circle.
