Let me start this review by saying that I do not condone the content of RapeLay at all. It is one of the most controversial games ever made and as a result and the main theme of sexual assault I suggest you think before you try RapeLay.
A Very Dark Story
I think the best way to describe RapeLay is that of a visual novel style game. It is all about its story and this is one of the darkest and twisted stories that I have ever encountered in a video game. While most of the controversy that surrounded this game was all to do with the theme of rape and assault. I will play devil’s advocate here and say that it is actually a twisted revenge story as well. It actually reminded me of The Last House on the Left which is a pretty messed up movie. I think that RapeLay is similar in tone to that movie.
You Care About The Girls
The game is about a man called Masaya Kimura who assaults a woman and is then reported by the police by the young, Aoi Kiryū. Unfortunately, Masaya has some high connections and he is released right away from prison. He decides he is going to get revenge on the whole Kiryū family and starts stalking them.
In terms of actual gameplay, the whole game is pretty much controlled with the mouse. There is not much in the way of gameplay in RapeLay, but to be honest with you I would not really want to have much more control over Masaya’s actions than I already do. While you are playing as the villain I do think that the game’s biggest strength is making you feel for the three women who he is stalking and assaulting. Once you finish the game there is also a free play option.
How Does It End?
They have put two different endings in the game and neither one of them is what I would class as a happy ending. One is more twisted than the other if you ask me, but you get each ending by doing something different in the game so there is a bit of replay value here. I would imagine though that most people who play this out of some kind of curiosity
RapeLay is made with a fairly impressive 3D engine the character models look pretty good, but they are not super realistic. I think this is actually better as I think it would make playing the game even more uncomfortable than it already is if the character models looked better than they do. It is really hard to praise the presentation in a game like this, but I do feel that it is as good as it probably could have been.
RapeLay is not an easy game to recommend to people giving its horrific subject matter. Make no bones about it, what happens in this game is shocking and if you are easily offended I highly suggest that you stay away. The story is not bad, but I feel that it should have had an ending where there was a better redemption for the ladies.
- There is actually a story here
- Some replay value
- Is like a horror/revenge type movie
- The subject matter is horrible
- Very hard to recommend to people
- PC compatible
- Operating systems: Windows 10/Windows 8/Windows 7/2000/Vista/WinXP
Not many lewd games get the mainstream attention that RapeLay managed to get! With a title like this, you pretty much know what you are in store for here and this is a lewd game that does deal with sexual assault and I completely understand why this would make this a game that is a big “nope” for many people out there. I have to say, playing this game is a bit hard due to the sex in it not being consensual but, to be honest, I have played worse!
The Worst MC In History?
The character that we play as in RapeLay is a guy called, Masaya Kimura and he gets off by groping chicks on the subway. He is a pervert, a bad dude in every sense of the word, and one day he gropes a young woman that actually reports him to the cops. This brave young lady is called, Aoi, and reporting him turned out to be a massive mistake, you see Masaya is a man that has some major connections and he is released from prison before you know it.
A Thirst For Revenge
Ok, so the whole sexual assault by groping chicks on a train is bad enough in RapeLay, but things are about to get worse. You see, out of prison and furious, Masaya has decided that he will get revenge on Aoi and her family and he starts staling them! Keep in mind that this is the main character we play as. There is no happy ending here in this game, just one that is more brutal than the other. I feel that a third ending where he gets what is coming to him may have made this game much easier to stomach for me and most other people.
Rubbing One Out
The premise, plot, and main character of RapeLay are all messed up, but the gameplay is actually quite basic. You pretty much just control the game with the mouse and you need to move it over the girls to grope them and then when it comes to the actual sex, you just start moving the mouse in a particular way. To be honest, other lewd games have played like this before, but with your actions committing sexual assault it makes the gameplay feel worse somehow.
Shockingly Eye Catching!
With so much controversy being thrown the way of RapeLay and people being so shocked about a game being themed around sexual assault. Many people tend to talk about the horrific acts of sexual assault that are committed in this game, but never mention that this is a very average looking game. It has a rather low budget, almost PlayStation 2 kind of look to the visuals. The sex in the game is weird as you can move the camera around and I found it hard to control. Look, the game could have the best sex ever in it, but as it is all themed around rape, stalking, and assault it is impossible to find it hot.
Look, I have reviewed a ton of lewd games over the years and there are a select few that I just cannot bring myself to give a score to and RapeLay is one of them. The whole game being about sexual assault and stalking this poor girl makes this a game that I found very hard to get into and get some real enjoyment out of. Look, I know that this is all fantasy and no judgment here, but this just did not click for me at all and I do not think it is a game I will ever play again.
- The way the game was picked up by mainstream media in the West is interesting
- It has a very dark story of revenge which some may like
- At the end of the day, you are committing sexual assault here and that is the whole point of the game
- It is impossible for me to find this game sexy
- The presentation looks like a budget PlayStation 2 game
