Break Everything - Living Room

Break Everything - Living Room is a game that promises to let you unleash your inner destructive tendencies and demolish a virtual living room. Sometimes, you just want to break things! You ever feel that urge to just drop a plate and watch it shatter because, well, why not? Sometimes destruction feels like the most cathartic solution to some of life's problems. However, for obvious reasons, this isn’t always the best approach. But what if you could do that virtually? Games that let you break things, throw them around, and cause general chaos are a lot of fun, and it’s easy to sink a lot of hours into them.

At its core, the game is simple and intriguing. Who doesn't want to smash, break, and destroy things from time to time? This game does allow you to do this, and... that’s about it. Being made on an engine like Unreal Engine 5, you would expect it to offer high-quality graphics and collision physics that can offer realistic or even exaggerated destruction, especially with a high price point as seen on the Steam page.

Premise

The game starts with the player in a living room, surrounded by various objects such as chairs, tables, vases, and other decor. The objective of the game is simple: break everything in the room. The game is timed, and players have ten minutes to destroy as much as they can before the time runs out. You get what looks like a Nerf gun that shoots out big yellow balls, and you’re given about ten minutes to shoot as many items as you can and get a high score.

Gameplay

The main selling point of the game is the physics engine that it employs. The objects in the living room are designed to behave realistically when they are destroyed. For example, a vase will shatter into pieces, and the pieces will scatter in different directions. The furniture will break apart, and the pieces will fall to the ground. However, upon watching the gameplay, when objects are shot, they just sort of...disappear. It hardly feels like you’re breaking anything. Not to mention, what you’re paying for is the living room, which means a severe lack of variety.

Personal Rating 2/10

Sad to say, I can’t personally rate this game very highly for quite a few reasons. The biggest reason being the outrageous price point on Steam. It is currently priced at $99 USD, which is insane!

Pros:

• The game could be cathartic and fun
• Decent graphics from Unreal Engine 5
• The game is easy to play

Cons:

• Severely Overpriced at $99 USD
• Lack of Variety
• The game is incredibly shallow. There's no real strategy or skill involved. You just swing your weapon and break things
