Ok, so before we start, I have to tell you that the current translation for Evenicle 2 is a bit on the rough side. So please keep that in mind as you read on this review. If you enjoyed what the first game offered, you are probably going to like what is in store for you here. It does change things up a tad, but for the most part, this builds upon what was done in the first game.
The Doctor Is In
If you played the first game, you may be surprised to know that in Evenicle 2 we have a completely different set of characters and the game is set in the same world, but a different region. This time we play as a guy called Alex and Alex is a doctor, the luckiest doctor in the land! I say this because there is a bit of a pandemic and the only way, he can cure this is with lots and lots of sex.
The first thing you will notice about this game is the visual style. It looks fantastic, which so did the first game to be fair. However, this time around they have gone for a more chibi kind of art style and that is something I really do like. I have a feeling that this change to a “cuter” style is not going to be to everyone’s taste.
More Of The Same
The gameplay of Evenicle 2 is once again that of an RPG with visual novel-style storytelling sprinkled over the top of it. I like this style of gameplay and I feel that with this one they went more in-depth with the RPG side of things which I really did like. You have to be smart with your active skills, worry about this new “illness” system and in general, it feels more like a fully-fledged RPG this time around. The illness mechanic is very annoying and having to find cures was not something I enjoyed, to be honest with you.
Apart from the illness thing (which I am sure I could get used to) I feel that overall, this plays better than the first game did. The story is kind of weird and there is still some sex stuff that I could do without, but there is no denying a lot of love and time went into making this game.
Man, I wish that there was a better way for me to play this right now. I can tell that Evenicle 2 has a lot going on, but this current translation we have for it is rough. I feel that if you can kind of get your way through it or even just play the Japanese version you will still have a good time. In the meantime, I am sitting patiently waiting for a better translation so I can really get invested in this as I feel there could be something special here.
- I like the different art style
- The 2D hentai sections are drawn incredibly well
- The story is very strange, but kind of fun
- The game has different mechanics from the first
- I liked how it was a bit more strategic
- The illness system can be very frustrating
- The current translation is not good at all
