Codemasters continues to develop one of the finest racing simulation experiences on the market with the outstanding F1 2016. Sit behind the wheel of some of the world’s fastest motor vehicles, as you race and climb your way to the top of the Formula One racing championship in this exhilarating driving experience.
With some improvements to the game’s career mode and an updated AI model that feels much more challenging than ever before, F1 2016 is the natural evolution of the same F1 formula Codemasters has delivered for a while now. New players will be captivated by the game’s gorgeous visuals, while the most demanding veterans will be thrilled by the amazing driving experience and the revamped career mode.
Drive Longer, Race Faster
F1 2016 aims to deliver the ultimate in realism when it comes to the challenges and excitement of the world-famous Formula One championship. This means that not only the driving physics and the game’s presentation have been updated for this year’s entry, but also the way how the entire career mode works has been adapted to be much more true-to-life.
Compared to F1 2015, this title now uses a much longer span of ten full seasons instead of five. This means that the player will have to get more used to both their cars and their teams if they hope to leave behind a successful racing legacy.
Speaking of realism, the game now features a manual pit lane entry mechanic: the first time this has been used in a Codemasters-developed title. Of course, long-time players can expect some minor tweaks to the overall handling of the cars to be included in this new entry in the series — after all, Codemasters has gotten some practice with the excellent physics present in DiRT Rally.
Customize And Compete
Another new addition to the F1 formula in F1 2016, is that players may now choose the time of day of any given race track. This gives the game much more variety in its tracks compared to previous entries in the franchise and might help keep things interesting for returning players.
New tracks include the street circuit of Baku, which might give both novices and skilled players a run for their money with its complicated twists and turns. If you’re on the fence about getting a game in the F1 series, F1 2016 might be the right place to start thanks to its accessible career mode and its rich customization options.
The opponents’ AI has also received a nice next-gen upgrade. There’s also a new player perception mechanic that changes the way other teams react to you during the game’s career, either by being more careful if you start winning races, or taking risks if they see you’re trapped in a losing streak.
It’s also worth mentioning that the game’s graphical department remains as excellent as ever. Car models look marvelous, and so do most of the tracks. Some of the larger racetracks can look a bit barren in some areas, which is more noticeable in the game’s first-person mode, but you’re usually driving so fast that everything outside of the road looks like a blur anyways.
F1 2016 is an excellent racing game that takes Codemaster’s mastery of the driving genre to the next level, elevating the franchise to the next level.
