After spending some time looking at Gladiator Guild Manager, I have to say I am pretty confident that in a post-apocalyptic world I could be one hell of a guild leader! In all seriousness, this is a fun and awesome looking auto battler style of game that has a real emphasis on building a team and figuring out what lineup works best in any given situation. It may look cartoony, but there is some major depth to the gameplay here.
Conquer The Land
The fantasy setting was what first got my attention with Gladiator Guild Manager. As the name of the game suggests the idea of the game is to build the most amazing guild around. You can have warriors, beasts, mages, and more making up your guild. Making a guild is one thing, but the ultimate goal of the game is to conquer the land and you do this by traveling around and taking part in epic arena battles to show how mighty your guild is.
Saturday Morning With Cereal
I love the whole visual style that Gladiator Guild Manager has going on. In many ways, it reminds me of a cartoon that would have been on Saturday mornings back in the day that I would watch while stuffing my face with cereal loaded with sugar. It has a very nice and clean art style and the creature design in the game is very well done and shows a lot of imagination.
The different areas have different styles such as mud, grass, snow, and so on, and the whole fantasy world that the game is set in does look like it has a ton of personality. I am very hopeful that these fantastic graphics are going to have a story and lore that goes into more depth about what this fantasy land is all about.
Building You Guild
The way you build your guild in the game is far deeper than you would think. You have a selection of characters that you can choose from in Gladiator Guild Manager and each one has their own strengths, weaknesses, and abilities and you can enhance them with the gear that you pick up along the way. There is also a kind of skill tree thing going on where the path you select will ultimately dictate what kind of characters you can add to your guild.
Each time you battle, you are able to select the lineup of characters that you want. You do not take control of the battles, but you are responsible for making sure the lineup you have is able to take on the enemies that stand before you. I am sure there will be a bit of trial and error involved here as you find out what combination of characters works best.
As of me writing this, Gladiator Guild Manager is not yet fully released, but it looks like one of the most intriguing strategy games to be released. I love the whole fantasy setting of the game and I just hope that they have a nice and deep lore to go along with it. If you like games where you get to build armies and take part in epic fantasy battles, this is probably a game that you are going to get a great deal out of.
