Hentai Girl Division

You ever spend ages with a game just trying to fall in love with it because that is what I did with Hentai Girl Division. This is a lewd shoot-em-up or a lewder which is a term I have just invented. Anyway, this is a very budget title and it has a cool sense of style and to be fair, it controls pretty damn good. It just has a few “issues” that stop it from being the game I feel it could be!

Take Us To Your Leader!

The plot of the game is just crying out to be campy and funny, but instead, it takes itself way too seriously! You play as a general of this place called, Romia and the planet is now in an intergalactic war. Do not worry as you are in charge of five hot female fighter-pilots that are here to save the day.

The story shows signs of promise, but it never actually goes anywhere. One of the worst things in Hentai Girl Division is that you cannot skip any of the dialogue. So, if you die or replay the same levels over and over to grind, you have to hear the same story many, many times.

Good, But Could Have Been Great

I think the overall art style that this game has is pretty good. There is a solid selection of levels and the different themes keep things from getting too stale. The characters look great and have curves in all of the right places as you would expect, but the one area that Hentai Girl Division drops the ball is the variety of enemies. There are very few enemies in this game and even worse they repeat the same bosses as well! What is here is done well, I just wish there was more variety.

Sorry, Can You Say That Again

I was very surprised and impressed to see that the game offered full English voice acting. This is rather rare for a lewd game and the voice acting is kind of hilarious. It is not bad, but I got a kick out of the voice actors having to pretend to be all serious while saying this dialogue. Of course, voice acting is great and all, but due to the repeating nature of the story, you hear the same bits of dialogue over and over again.

Too Over The Line

At its core, Hentai Girl Division is a competent shooter. You start with one girl and then you get the rest after that first level. The game controls with the mouse, your ship auto fires and you have three categories that you can upgrade in health, attack, and fire-rate. You can get special abilities too and you always feel like you are working towards something. After that first level, I thought this game was awesome!

The problem is, after that first level the difficulty spike is insane! Your attacks feel like they do next to no damage at all, so you have to either die and die a lot or you have to spend ages grinding with each character on that second level to get their stats up, but once your stats are up things are then way too easy.

This can make things far more frustrating than fun and it can be even worse if you play the game on Hardcore mode as you have to beat it with one life!

Pros:

• I liked each of the female fighter-pilots
• The game actually has English voice acting
• I thought the levels looked pretty cool
• These chicks are pretty hot
• The game controls very smoothly

Cons:

• The story is kind of lame
• The amount of hits the enemies take is crazy and annoying
