Galaxy Girls

I must admit that Galaxy Girls is a visual novel that greatly appealed to me. Playing as a captain on a spaceship with a fully female crew and a mystery to solve! That right there is a premise that I can get right behind! While I had some fun with the game and I do think that it had some neat ideas. I must admit that I came away from the game feeling rather underwhelmed and also kind of mad at the in-your-face way they try to sell you all of their DLC!

In Space, No One Can Hear You Bang

The premise of Galaxy Girls is really cool, but the execution of the story is freaking weird man! There is this spaceship that is on an intergalactic voyage and onboard are four females. Two of them were sent on this mission without being asked. Like, they were kidnaped, thrown into hypersleep, and have awoken onboard! Another girl is a stowaway.

The mission that this crew is on…. I would love to tell you, but it never goes into great detail as to why these ladies are on this mission and what the stakes are. Random stuff happens on the ship that they need to fix, but that is about it. It is such a weird direction for a story to take, but you keep on playing as you are sure something… anything must have to happen!

Same Old, Same Old

While the story may be strange and unusual (I myself am strange and unusual, little Beetlejuice reference for you there) the gameplay of Galaxy Girls is your standard visual novel affair. You read a bunch of text and try to get an understanding of each of the characters. I liked how they made sure that each character was her own woman and was very different. This forces you to pay attention to what they say.

The reason for this is that you need to react to certain situations in the right way. You can get a game over in this game if you make the wrong move so try to pay attention and figure out what you are supposed to do. There are different routes that you can take which will lead you to one of the different endings.

Go West!

I was shocked to hear that this game was made by a studio in the West. The reason I say that is the art has a very Japanese style to it. The art is the best thing this game has going on. Each of the four Galaxy Girls is very, very appealing to look at. They wear sexy clothing and it was always a pleasure to see them get naked or have sex.

The artwork here is just top class all the way and probably the thing that kept me invested as long as I was. I would love to see these characters return in a game that is a bit more fleshed out with the story and antics for you to interact with.

• The story is so strange that you cannot help, but wonder where it is going

• The story does not have a big plot
• The game is very aggressive with the DLC
