When it comes to lewd visual novel games, Hardcoded is often cited as one of the best. It is a very trans-positive game and while that is great and all. I have to say that I feel this game succeeds as it is a fantastic visual novel game and one that is quite unlike any other that I have played recently. The game is funded via Patreon and this is certainly a game where I feel that if you like it, you need to throw them a few bucks as they more than deserve it.
A Futa Cyberpunk World
The setting of Hardcoded is awesome, it has a real cyberpunk vibe to it and that is something that I really do like a great deal. The character that we play as is an android called HC. HC manages to run away and she ends up joining a group of human trans women and fits right in.
Soon, it is revealed that the city is super horny and that there is a sinister corporation at play and thus begins an interesting investigation to find out what is really going on. The story in the game is very, very well done, honestly it is some of the best writing that I have come across in a game like this.
The Pixelated Future
As you can see Hardcoded is made with pixel art and it is probably the best pixel art that I have ever seen in a lewd game. Seriously, the person responsible for this is very, very talented and should be working for one of the big game companies that are out there, that is how good this game looks. The whole cyberpunk world is just such a great fit for pixel art and I found myself taking in every little background detail that I could.
The game also is lewd so it has pixel art sex scenes and these are very well done too. I liked how much animation was on offer here and even if Futa is not usually your thing, I am sure that you are going to be very impressed with the way that this game looks.
I know that I referred to Hardcoded as a visual novel game at the start, but it is more like a point and click adventure game now that I think about it. You need to move around the screen, interact with people and objects, and try to figure out what you have to do next. The story unfolds in a very natural way and nothing in the game ever felt like it was too cryptic.
You get to make various choices as you play and these can move the story in a particular direction which was something that I really did like. It is a game that is just a joy to play from start to end.
I really wish that I heard about this game sooner. I can see why so many people hold it in such high esteem. Yes, it is awesome that Hardcoded is a very trans-positive game, but it is also a damn fine visual novel/point and click adventure game in its own right too. It tells a compelling story and features some awesome characters too. Plus that pixel artwork is truly some of the best that I have seen in a lewd game.
