Legendary Tracks Part 3: Hockenheim

If you like Automobilista, you need to check out Legendary Tracks Part 3: Hockenheim! This is another DLC expansion for Automobilista and well worth checking out if you are a fan of the sim-based racing action that Automobilista offers.

What Is The Big Deal?

Let me start by saying that this is the kind of DLC that has a very certain kind of audience. I would say that this is an expansion that is made for people who love their motorsport. I say that because this as the name suggests is all about Hockenheim which has played host to the German GP for over three decades at this point.

This is a very popular track thanks to the way it is home to some super high-speed races thanks to the long straights that it has. Also, those large German trees that are in the background really do give this track a unique experience that they have captured very well here. I am sure those who know this track well will love the attention to detail here.

Hockenheim Through The Ages

I must admit that they could have just used the current Hockenheim track for this Legendary Tracks Part 3: Hockenheim DLC expansion and that would have been great. However, Automobilista is all about the rich history of motorsport and this expansion captures that very well. You see they have recreated the famous Hockenheim track from three different time periods.

You can race here in 1977, 1988, 2001 and 2016 which is basically how it looks now. It is really cool seeing how different the track looked back then and there is also a rallycross layout of this track that was added in shortly after the original release.

What Else Is New?

Let me say that the main reason for getting this expansion is to have the Hockenheim track and if that sounds cool to you that is more than enough. Casual fans may be surprised to know that really this is all there is! There is no fleet of new cars to use (although to be fair the core game has more than enough) and I do feel they could have added more in with the DLC. There are many under the hood fixes that have been made which are included with this expansion which help the overall game run better and change up the AI for the better too.

In all, I feel that Legendary Tracks Part 3: Hockenheim is an expansion that is only for hardcore Automobilista fans only. The attention to detail on this track is awesome as is how they have recreated it through history. However, I feel for the casual player this is an expansion that is not offering enough to get you really excited. Still, for a motorsport enthusiast, I am sure this is something they will think is really cool.
