SEKI

As soon as I heard that SEKI was a lewd platformer, I knew that this was a game I needed to give a try. This game is known for its quirky but also very cute pixel art, and while there may not exactly be a whole bunch of substance to this, I still had a very fun time with it. The game only took me an hour or so to play through, and I think that is the perfect time for something like this. Actually, this was something I came into at the perfect time as it was just what I needed as a palate cleanser between two much larger and intense games that I played.

Digging The Vibes

I wish I could go on and on about how great the story in SEKI was, but the truth is, there is pretty much zero story going on here, and to be honest with you, I am ok with that. The basics of what you need to know are that you are a cute little adventurer chick, and she is out in this deadly world that is full of all kinds of horny monsters. That is pretty much all the story you get in the build that I played, but as I said, this game lasts you an hour tops, so to be fair, I am not sure what they could have actually done. In many ways, the lack of a deep story gives this something of an old school arcade vibe about it.

Up, Up And Away!

Nope, you have not stumbled onto a review for the awesome Death and Return of Superman, a true 16-bit beat em up classic! However, SEKI is a game that does have a lot of jumping, as our little heroine does not just have a jump; she doesn’t even just have a double jump, nope, she has a triple jump! Platforming is a real focus of things here, and I liked getting into the groove of running and jumping. But I am not sure why they made the effort to give you this triple jump when I would say that 90 percent of the platforming you are going to be doing in this game can be done with just a regular jump!

A Few Interesting Steps

As well as having a lot of platforming going on, combat is actually a pretty big focus of SEKI as well. The thing here is that in order to get one of the hardcore scenes, an enemy has to actually grab you and attack you that way. Our heroine does have a melee attack, but she also has a ranged attack, and I would say that most of the enemies have ranged attacks as well. This means that they either hit you before you get too close or you kill them before you get too close. The way that each of the stages is set up means that if you want to actually see some of the XXX scenes, you are going to have to dodge enemy attacks and not fire your own back at them, get close, and actually let them grab you. Doing this was more challenging than actually trying to beat each stage the proper way!

Making Your Escape

I had a friend tell me that he was not going to play SEKI because he was sick of playing pixel art games, not just lewd pixel art games, but pixel games in general! Hey, I get it, this art style is overused, but I still like it. The pixel art here is a lot of fun, our plucky heroine is a cute character, and there are some very fun enemy designs. I got a kick out of the big stone heads, and there was this big-boobed, slime-like lady that I thought was a lot of fun too. As I said, the XXX scenes happen when an enemy grabs you, but there is a little bit of gameplay tied to the sex scenes, as you have to quickly move left to right in order to escape. I thought that having a bit of interactivity in these moments was pretty cool.

Pros:

• The heroine had a bit of a plucky charm about her
• While not super deep, the gameplay is fun
• I liked how the sex scenes required you to escape from them
• It has some quirky pixel art

Cons:

• The double and triple jump seems super pointless
• There is not much substance to the game

SEKI is a mix of a platformer and a beat-'em-up game with an old-school pixel art style, in which players control a girl named Seki. This brave warrior in a red cloak battles her way through level after level, slaying every monster she encounters with her sword. She knows exactly what will happen if she doesn’t win. Every monster here is a depraved creature that desperately wants to fuck our superheroine. Luckily, she can fly and quickly lands combo strikes with her sharp sword. If a monster catches you, there’s a chance to break free while it’s fucking you, but if you don’t make it in time, Seki will be devoured in the end. Most often, stone masks will try to suck her into their mouths; her enemies will also include goblins, succubi, water spirits, and various tentacled monsters.

Game Features

• Collect coins like in Sonic and avoid spikes like in Mario
• Succubi look like girls with horns, so I guess you could say there’s a bit of lesbian content here
