Trials in Tainted Space or if you want to call it, TITS is an erotic text-based game from the people that brought to us the very naughty Corruption of Champions. For most people, Trials in Tainted Space is a game that they will fire up, play for about five minutes and just shut off. Then there are others that will go down a rabbit hole of debauchery that they could not have even imagined in their wildest dreams! It should go without saying that this game is 100, no 200 percent NSFW and if you are easily offended walk away now!

Who To Be? Who To Be Indeed?

The first task that you have to get to in Trials in Tainted Space is that you need to create your character. This game is deep and I mean super deep with its character creation and you can meld together characters from all kinds of walks of intergalactic life. You do not have to be just a human there are a ton of other races that you can be and there is a detailed back story and fact file for each of them.

The game is all text-based so it is all left up to your imagination. What is interesting is that the text does actually start to paint some pretty damn graphic pictures in your head!

Explore And Do It All!

The game has many RPG mechanics to it and once you create your character you set off on your adventure. The game has a grid to the left of where the text is and this is your “map” each area you go in will have people to talk to, do and of course fight, but there are other areas on the grid where nothing happens except a description of the area you are in.

Combat in the game is I guess ok. I can see some finding it rather boring, but there is at least a little bit of difference between each of the races/classes. You can only use melee or ranged weapons, not both which is a bit annoying if I am honest with you. The game is funded on Patreon and they do allow access to the current builds of the game so I am sure it will just keep on improving and they do seem to be listening to what fans are saying.

To tell you the truth, Trials in Tainted Space is not a game for me. It is not the sex or the debauchery of it at all, far from it. I am just not a person who is into heavily texted based games. I get that the game can paint a picture in your head, but I guess I just need more than that. On the flip side of this, I can see why so many people lose so many hours to this game! Just be warned, it can be very filthy!

Final Score: 6/10 (but to be fair it is just not for me)

• The universe in the game is huge
• I like the way there is kind of a map to help you progress
• It does have combat
• It is very, very naughty!

• I wish I could really see what is going on
• Most certainly not a game that is for everyone

I first played Trials in Tainted Space a few years ago, but it recently came across my radar again and I wanted to see how it had been updated since I last played it. Ok, so I will admit that the fact that the title is a clever play on tits was what brought me back here. However, for a text based lewd game, this is pretty awesome and probably packed with way more content than you are expecting it to be. I would have to say that I liked what I played here far more than I remember doing when I played this a few years back.

This Is “YOUR” Adventure

The character creation stuff that Trials in Tainted Space has to offer is pretty insane. The game gives you many different species that you can play as and if you are into sci-fi, pretty much anything you could want to be is here. You can be the ultimate space captain, like a more horny Captain Kirk from Star Trek. Or, you could go a bit more wilder, being some kind of alien monster with a massive penis! I would recommend taking your time here as the character you create will dictate what kind of adventure you have.

Say That Again!

The writing in Trials in Tainted Space is something that is more extreme than you may be expecting. This is a game that does not hold back and as it is a text based game, it goes into some pretty graphic detail about the stuff that is going on. At the end of the day, this is a game that has an ending where you lose because your penis is simply too big so that lets you know the kind of thing you are in for here. While it is very graphic, this game also has a pretty fun sense of humor and there were some real moments here that legit made me chuckle out loud as I was reading them. Both because they were legit funny, but also because the stuff I was reading was so over the top!

Lights Out!

As Trials in Tainted Space is a text adventure game, a great deal of the gameplay is reading the story and then responding in the way that you feel is best for your character. However, this is actually a pretty hefty RPG kind of game as you have various stats that you can build up as you progress through the game and there are many interesting and frankly weird and perverted characters that you can meet along the way. The game does have combat, but it is pretty easy, I found a powerful attack early on and was able to steamroll my way through most situations. There is also a quirky puzzle game that is like the classic, Lights Out where you have to click around the screen, pressing the right key at the right time.

Breaking Through The Wall

They do show a few graphics here and there in Trials in Tainted Space, but for the most part, you will be looking at a big wall of text for most of the time you play this game. Stuff like your stat screen, combat, and the puzzle game do offer some variety, but most of the game is text. Hey, this does work pretty well to be fair with the way that they have done it. Granted, sometimes I did feel like I was just looking at a massive wall of text and it honestly felt overwhelming to have to read it all, but at least it is all clear and the UI is nice and easy to figure out too.

Pros:

• The character creation stuff is very impressive
• I liked the humor in the story
• The game goes way over the top with how graphic and gross it is!
• This was something that I liked more and more as I played it

Cons:

• It is a game that demands a lot of attention from the player
• Some of the writing may be a tad too gross and extreme for some people
