Trove is a voxel-based MMO full of adventure and amazing environments to explore. If you like MMOs but are looking for one that is more chill to play and isn’t too complicated, then you’ve come to the right place. Definitely consider downloading Trove if it sounds like something you’d enjoy.
If you’re not convinced yet, then be sure to keep reading, as I’m going to explain all of the game’s best features in a bit more detail. Hopefully, by the end, you'll be eager to get the game yourself. Without further ado, let’s get into things.
A voxel-based art style
Trove has a simple, yet beautiful art style based all around voxels, which may feel familiar to you if you’ve ever played Minecraft or anything similar. All the characters, enemies, and environments are made from these tiny voxel cubes and the art team have done an amazing job of making everything incredibly detailed despite the limitations of the art style. I guarantee you’ll be surprised and thoroughly impressed by how cool some of the things in this game look. Play with friends
Trove is an MMO, meaning you can play it with all of your friends! Take on bosses together, explore new regions, and just have fun with it! These kinds of games are what you make of them, and if you’re playing together with the right people, you’re absolutely going to have an amazing time.
If none of your friends are interested in playing though, that's okay too! There are plenty of opportunities in Trove to team up with strangers and make new friends, so don't worry about hopping on as a solo player.
A range of classes
A big part of Trove is the combat, and the game has a whole host of fighter classes for you to choose from that have special abilities depending on the kind of playstyle you like. If you like getting up close and personal with your enemies, then maybe play as a Knight or Dracolyte, but if you prefer keeping your distance and doing damage with ranged attacks, there are other options like the Gunslinger or Ice Mage classes. I won’t spoil things too much by revealing all the other classes, but just know that there are so many great ones to choose from. Be sure to try them all out! You’ll be surprised at how fun it is to play as some of the more niche ones.
MMOs can be tough to get right, but the developers of Trove have honestly done a fantastic job. There are so many unique areas to explore, dungeons to take on, and classes to try out, that I guarantee you won't be getting bored easily. You can even build your own structures and unleash your creativity upon the land! If all this stuff hasn't convinced you to download the game yet, then I don't know what will.
Pros:
- A huge world full of cool areas to explore
- Lots of different fighter classes are available
- Ability to play with friends and make new friends
Cons:
- The controls are quite simple so if you prefer MMOs that are more strategic then you may not enjoy Trove
- Some of the gameplay elements are quite repetitive and boring
