There's always a bit of a groan when you find a mobile game based on a film or TV show. There's also a particular kind of discontent for those produced by Disney, given their history of producing less-than-adequate video games that maximum farm cash. 'Where's My Perry?' is another title based on the Phineas & Ferb franchise, and expectations are low.
However, the game is based on an existing title with a different theme. As it turns out, that preceding match was pretty good. That notion, at least, makes the idea of 'Where's My Perry?' all the more intriguing. So instead of sitting here and moaning about how it's a Disney mobile game, maybe we should give it a go?
Pillars of Platypus
It's hard to tell you what's happening here because I know nothing about the Phineas & Ferb series. That's not because I refuse to watch it, nor am I avoiding it; the franchise is something that I've never come across in my media travels. But apparently, it's popular enough that it's spawned a series of games, and 'Where's My Perry?' is one of them.
The game is a mobile title that leverages the popularity of physics-based puzzles, adding the theme of Perry the Platypus, who is an investigative agent. I do not know how this fits into the mechanics or objectives of gameplay, but I can divulge the gist of what's going on here!
Essentially, you are using innovative machines known as "Crazy-inators" to transform different environmental assets into the elements required to create a path to progress your character. You'll be channeling water by cutting down obstacles set up by the evil Dr. Doofenschmirz to release our platypus down further to his ultimate destination.
You'll do this about 80 times until you eventually accomplish your objectives. But let's not take anything from 'Where's My Perry?'; it's surprisingly entertaining. There's a good chunk of humor to enjoy, the visuals are cute, and there's a challenge now and then. For a mobile game meant for kids, you can get pretty immersed in the gameplay.
What's at the End?
Ultimately, there's no reward to playing 'Where's My Perry' other than solving every puzzle. However, that's not going to stop you keep going, as the satisfaction of completing each level is surprisingly high. Not since the elementary game of Red's Kingdom brought a fascinating mobile puzzle game.
So is 'Where's My Perry?' worth the investment? As much as it would pain me to say as a Disney game, at it's low-cost, yes, it's worth playing. Even though it's a copy of another version of the game, it's surprisingly immersive to the untrained eye. Perhaps if you were a Phineas & Ferb fan, you'd understand and enjoy the title even more!
