Caliross, The Shapeshifter's Legacy

Caliross, The Shapeshifter's Legacy is a lewd RPG made with RPG Maker and it is a game that managed to keep my attention for a fair while. It is funded via Patreon and there are some very interesting ideas at play here. The fantasy setting, the female protagonist, and the various guilds that the game throws your way certainly did a great job in making in invested in what was going on.

The Best Historian Around

The game has a rather interesting story that sees us take control of a sexy young lady who is a shapeshifter. She has her eyes on becoming the best historian ever so she leaves her home and heads to the big city to learn as much as she can about her kind and to also spread the word.

The overarching story is not all that great if I am being honest with you, but Caliross, The Shapeshifter's Legacy throws different guilds at you such as the mage guild and the adventurers guild. Each of these has their own things to play through which is what I found interesting about the plot of the game.

Haven’t I Seen You Before?

The art style on offer here is quite interesting. I tend to think that these RPG Maker games all kind of blend together with their visuals and that is certainly the case for what Caliross, The Shapeshifter's Legacy is offering. I cannot say for sure what it is, but I had a real sense of Deja Vue the whole time I was playing this game as far as the visuals go. The main character is very easy on the eyes and there is some great lewd content in this game that has some amazing artwork. The game does not look bad by any means, but it does not really do a great deal in terms of sticking out from the other games that are made with RPG Maker.

Is This What Being A Historian Is All About?

While she may have her sights set on being a historian, you are going to have your hands full with a ton of other jobs in the game. The map is quite large and I will admit that Caliross, The Shapeshifter's Legacy can be a bit of a “where the hell am, I supposed to go?” kind of game however, you will find yourself working at a casino, taking part in a human-style cattle market and taking on a ton of different jobs for the various guilds that make up this world. There is always something to do and while it can be hard to know for sure what to do next, you will always stumble onto something.

There are plenty of puzzles in the game that usually require you to use a certain type of spell on something. As you would expect, combat is also part of this game, but for me, that was the weakest aspect of the gameplay. The combat is very slow-paced and it feels like something that would have been in an RPG about 20 years ago!

• The main character is very likable
• It has some great lewd art!
• There is always some kind of mission for you to do
• There was way more variety to the missions than I thought there would be
• The different guilds are interesting

Cons:

• It can be hard to know what to do
• The combat system the game has feels very dated
