DownloadsStart your engines, motorheads! A great arcade racing game is set to scorch into your homes and make a pit stop at your NES. You'd better invite three of your friends over because it's going to take the whole crew to outrace the wizard of the wheel, Danny Sullivan.
Hot Wheels
Make sure you're using a potholder when you slide Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat by Tradewest into your system. It just might bum your fingers! The overall game play, although simple, is outstanding, especially when played with two or more drivers (so dig out a Four Score or an NES Satellite). You race an entire season on the professional racing circuit, blazing through nine hot spots like Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, and Colorado. Danny Sullivan always drives the fifth car, and, as the game's name implies, he's as hot as Indy 500 asphalt! Pit stops are required, so your crew better be quick if you want to stay in the race.
Danny kicks your tailpipe, but cash and point prizes are awarded to the drivers depending on how they place in each race. With the dough, you can wheel and deal for torrid turbos, treaded tires, quick crews, powerful engines, better brakes, and mo' better mileage.
ProTips:
- Try to damage Danny's car right away by crashing into it from behind. This forces him to drive a long distance at a reduced speed to his pit.
- Let Danny buy your goodies and add-ons for you. He knows what's best for your car, and for each race. The controls for the game are simple. You can turn right, turn left, accelerate, and, if you own any, get a speed blast by pressing turbo.
- If your pit flag shows up on the approach to your final lap, ignore it and turbo to the finish line.
Indy Heat's only downfall is the less-than-lively sound effects. If you turn down the sound and convince your friends to make their own racing sounds, you're sure to have a good time.
Jonesing for a Race
Although the sound gets tiring, Indy Heat is a killer game. It's fast and flammable fun.
