Netorare Wife Misumi: Lustful Awakening

Forget about classic love stories where the bond between two people prevails over every circumstance. In Netorare Wife Misumi: Lustful Awakening, the opposite is much stronger. The game follows a young couple as they discover they have some rather uncommon “desires” that could put their relationship in jeopardy – or turn it into something else entirely.

Word of advice: avoid this game if you’re not into netorare. I mean, the word it’s right there in the title, but that’s the only content you’ll find in this game, so if you’re not into cheating and characters being unfaithful… yeah, you’re going to have a rough time with this one.

However, if that’s your cup of tea, what we have here is a surprisingly compelling visual novel with tons of decisions to make and multiple endings to find. In short, the dream of every netorare enthusiast – without all the real-life emotional luggage, of course.

Idyllic Origins

The story is very straightforward: Misumi and Shoma, a young couple, just moved into their new apartment together. Things are going well for the two lovebirds, but a random encounter with one of their neighbors turns Misumi into a sex-crazed woman who won’t hesitate to change partners as long as she’s satisfied.

Like I said, if you’re not into netorare, the premise might sound much more disturbing than something like Amnesia: The Dark Descent. That said, if you don’t mind being left as the “passive player,” so to speak, this game will be right up your alley. It feels almost like HuniePop 2: Double Date in the sense that you’re not the one doing the good ol’ in-and-out.

Choices That Matter

With a game like this, it’s clear that appealing to the fetish is paramount for the developer. As such, I wasn’t hoping much from the game’s plot. However, one thing that really took me by surprise was how well the story of Netorare Wife Misumi: Lustful Awakening flows.

The characters all feel “real” in that they aren’t just the usual caricatures we see in fetish games like these. The developer also included eleven endings, something uncommon for porn visual novels. You’ll find a bit of everything among these endings, from happy finales to traumatic bad ends. I managed to get around five of these endings, and let me tell you, I’m more than pleased with the story – even if I can’t say I’m a fan of the whole netorare stuff.

Peerless Presentation

Alright, I confess: I wasn’t all too impressed with the game’s art style at first glance. I thought the shading looked a bit flat, and some of the characters’ faces look like something you’d find in a “How to Draw Anime” book. However, when it comes to poses and h-scenes, the game is much more detailed than something like Summertime Saga.

I wouldn’t say it’s on the same level as something like Princess Trainer, but it’s not far from there. It also helps that there’s so much art included in this game, that you sometimes forget you’re playing an indie hentai visual novel.
