Wow is what most people will say when they see Path of the Midnight Sun for the first time. I am as guilty as anyone when it comes to throwing the word “epic” around these days, but that is honestly the best word I can think of to describe what we have here. At its core, I guess that you would have to say what we have here is an erotic RPG. However, I also think that it has some real visual novel stuff going on here too as it is so story driven and a lot of time and effort has been put into the story.

The Demon King Was Always Going To Be Trouble!

In a fantasy land that is called, Arvium many years ago an evil entity called, The Demon King arrived. Path of the Midnight Sun has a story here this big evil actually “infected” other people and it was not so bad. However, one of the people that has not a part of this Demon soul” inside of her is acting out, killing others, and trying to rule. This needs to be stopped and that is the basics (from what I have seen) of the story that is being told here. The story is very well written and a huge part of why people were so excited for this game. There are three playable main characters and each one will have a different take.

Driving Forward With Characters

Ok, so when it comes to the characters in Path of the Midnight Sun, we have to talk about them in two ways. First of all, how they relate to the story. Building relationships in this game is very important, characters mental state, how you interact with them, and the things you say and do are all very important. What is interesting here is that this is not just interesting for the story, but the relationships you have with characters also will have some kind of effect in regards to the combat as well.

Call To Arms

What we have here in terms of the gameplay is quite a deep turn based RPG. Path of the Midnight Sun allows you to tinker with your party, characters, and so on and the combat system is one that I feel is rather basic, but I mean that as a compliment. While there is a decent amount of strategy here and the AI is going to put up a very good fight, it is never so overwhelming that you are wondering what the heck you have to do.

I Would Binge Watch That!

The presentation of Path of the Midnight Sun is some of the best I have seen in a game of this style. I have really enjoyed many of the anime series that Netflix has put out this year, but I feel that the whole style of this game makes it feel like an anime series. The art in the game is gorgeous, we have these fantastic looking characters that are all animated very well and that alone would be great. However, we also have some amazing sound design that has a great soundtrack and some awesome voice acting that brings the story to a whole new level.

I was sure that Path of the Midnight Sun was going to be a great game, but this is one of those games that everyone that I knew who is into stuff like this is amazed by. The more you read and learn about this game, the more into it you are going to get. This style of game has been done to death, but not many can match what has been done here in terms of the way the story is told and the amazing presentation.
