Squirrel Stapler was originally released as part of a bundle, but now it is back in its own form with a few quality of life changes. This game is freaking nuts, but that is where its charm lies. This is a game you can beat in one sitting, as a matter of fact, the whole experience only lasts around an hour. However, despite being such a short game, this is the kind of game that you will never forget. It is a fun game to discuss with others and it has already proven to be very popular with streamers as it is such an absurd game to play and talk about.

Making Her Pretty Again

The story of Squirrel Stapler is one of the craziest stories that I have ever come across in a video game. We play as a random dude who lives in a cabin in the woods and our beloved wife is dead, we love her so much that we have her skinless corpse stuck to the wall. However, we have noticed that she is not looking her best so we decide that the right thing to do is to head out into the woods, hunt squirrels, and then staple their little corpses to our wife…. I am not making that up, that is the story of this game!

God Is Coming

The thing with Squirrel Stapler is that this story gets even crazier. You see, there is a god in the woods and they have demanded that no squirrels should be stapled. Also, God is coming in five days so we need to get going and bring our lovely wife back to her former beauty. The game has a kind of horror thing going, but you can clearly tell that the developer is poking fun at the many horror tropes we fans know and love. You can find little bits of squirrel lore in the form of facts as you explore and this is something that I got a massive kick out of.

A Furry Vengeance That Lasts Five Days

Squirrel Stapler is played from the first person. The game takes place over five days and each day gives is the same objective. We need to leave the cabin with our riffle and hunt for squirrels. The riffle can only do one shot at a time, but we do have a bit of shotgun ammo that we can use to protect ourselves against the ghosts of the squirrels that have already died and also these things called squirrel bears which can kill you before you even know that they are there. You need to try and move silently, find a squirrel, blast it, and then take its corpse. Once you meet your quota for the day, the next day begins, all leading up to a showdown with this very strange God that we keep hearing is coming.

What Kind Of Crazy God Is That?

I think that the whole style of Squirrel Stapler is hilarious. The low budget retro look of the game gives it a ton of personality and while it is quite graphic, the style they have gone for makes it hilarious. The first time you turn around and see this God of the forest standing there is so crazy you do not know what to think. While this is classed as a horror game, none of the crazy visuals are going to scare you. They nailed it with the whole style of the game in my opinion and while there are many others that go for a retro look like this, none are as nuts as this one that is for sure.

• I love the dark humor the game has
• To be fair, the controls are tight and work really well
• This is an experience you will never forget!

• Some may not like the price considering how short it is
• I love how weird it is, but it is perhaps too weird for some people

Squirrel Stapler is a horror journey that introduces you to the life of a hermit. Somewhere in a remote hut lives the protagonist and his wife. To the hero's regret, his wife has been badly mauled by flies and other corpse parasites. I suppose that's to be expected when nailing a corpse to the wall? However, humility is not the way for the protagonist, that's why he goes hunting for squirrels. Small rodents can replace his wife's lost skin, right? Right?
