I have dabbled and enjoyed this series for many years and Rance IX – The Helmanian Revolution is the latest entry and it is just a fantastic lewd tactics RPG. I had a great time with this and I think it may be my favorite game in this franchise. It is such a fun time and I think that those who are familiar with this series will obviously get the most out of it. However, I do think that the game fills in the blanks enough that you could come into this fresh and still enjoy it.

Getting The Main Man To Help

The story of Rance IX – The Helmanian Revolution is very in depth and a lot of fun. The setting of the game is the Helmanian Empire which has certainly seen better days due to being run into the ground by corrupt leaders over the years. A man has decided to try and get this place back to its former glory, but to do that, he is going to need the help of the toughest and badest dude in the world, Rance!

A Dude With Attitude!

One of the reasons that I and many other people have loved this series over the years is the lead character, Rance is an unapologetic asshole and we love that about him. Rance IX – The Helmanian Revolution still has the Rance that we all know and love, a Rance who loves ladies, loves sex, and loves fighting. However, I do feel like they have opened him up a bit more here and he is more willing to work with and get to know people than he was in the previous games. I think it is very good for his character development and it made me like him even more.

Thinking, Thinking, Thinking!

That was a Macho Man Randy Savage reference, I had to let you know that so you could see how clever I am. Rance IX – The Helmanian Revolution is a fun and challenging lewd tactics based RPG. The battle system is something that I really enjoyed, it is grid based, and party management and placement is very important to being successful, to be fair the game does a great job of teaching you how to play it. Rance has various ladies (seven I think) that he can romance along his adventure. It is fun stuff and I feel like it walks that fine line of being challenging, but not at the expense of being inaccessible.

Knowing What You Are Getting

For years, the Rance series has been known for its impressive visuals, especially the XXX stuff, and Rance IX – The Helmanian Revolution is no different. Being the most recent game in the series as you would expect, the game is the best looking this franchise has ever looked. It has some amazing lewd artwork, some of it is pretty damn weird too such as a scene with a bunch of little fairies trying to have sex with our hero! The game just ramps up the lewd content as you play through it and I think it rewards you very well for being good at the game as the better you do, the better the lewd content you get.

I had such a great time with my playthrough of Rance IX – The Helmanian Revolution that I fully intend to jump back in and do new game plus when I have the time. It is a fun tactics RPG with some of the best lewd art you will ever see. I would recommend playing some of the previous games in the series too as most of them are good too. However, you could jump in here and not feel completely lost. I am very excited to see how Rance X is going to bring this franchise to a close.
