Artificial Intelligence based singers have reached new heights of popularity, and Kizuna AI – Touch the Beat aims to capture that interest with an exciting new rhythm game that lets you get up close and personal to her—if you can match her rhythm.

The game’s setting is an arena with the singer at a distance. You need to wave your glowsticks to match her rhythm. The closer you get to the rhythm, the closer you get to her on stage. If you can match her music perfectly, you can see her face to face!

Kizuna is a popular AI singer, along the same likes as vocaloid Hatsune Miku. The game comes with 15 of her most popular songs, including her massive hit, “Hello, morning!” The game will also have DLC added to it later after release, including additional songs and costumes.

The game has different levels, with easy ones giving you a chance to relax and listen to the music. Harder ones will have you breaking a sweat as you use lightning quick reflexes to try and reach each note in time.

A VR Adventure

Kizuna AI – Touch the Beat is designed for virtual reality platforms and is supported by Quest, Playstation VR, Playstation VR2, Switch, and now PC. The game has recently expanded to allow a non-VR version, so that it can be played on devices that don’t use VR.

Despite this new mode, it’s best viewed in VR, so if you have VR available this should be your first choice.

Similar to Beat Saber

The whole point of the game is to match the rhythm of Kizuna, and you do this by hitting musical notes as they come at you. If you’ve ever played Beat Saber, this is essentially the anime version of that. Instead of slicing music blocks in a surreal neon environment however, it’s Kizuna’s notes coming at you instead of blocks.

Several Modes Available

The game offers a main gaming mode, where you are trying to hit the notes as they come at you. It also offers a movie mode however, which allows you to freely watch Kizuna sing from the angle of your choice as you move about the stage. On top of this we have the non-VR mode mentioned earlier, giving you several ways to play the game.

If you’re playing this game, it’s probably because of how much you love Kizuna. The game is less about the ability to play a beats game, when there are dozens of similar games out there, and more an opportunity to hang out with this virtual star.

The game is fun to play, and gives you access to many of her best songs, including the ones that have garnered millions of views online. If you’re a big fan of AI singers and want an opportunity to listen to Kizuna up close, this game has everything you need.
