Syahata’s Bad Day

Syahata’s Bad Day is a lewd side scrolling action game and a pretty solid one at that. I played through the entirety of the game and really enjoyed my time with it. However, I am not sure it would be the kind of game I would rush back to play again if that makes sense. That is not me saying it is bad at all, some games are just one and done type games and that is what this is. The thing is, it is a bit trickier than you may expect and you will have to roll your sleeves up and figure things out to beat the game.

Zombies, Zombies, Zombies!

Story wise, there is not a ton going on here in Syahata’s Bad Day, but it does get the job done. We play as a hot young chick who ends up in a pretty bad situation. There is a virus that is causing people to turn into sex crazed monsters. We need to fight our way out of this nightmare. I think that they set things up really well and I was interested to learn more about this virus in regards to what caused it and so on, but the story never develops any further than the setup.

Monster High

While there may not be much in the way of a story here in Syahata’s Bad Day, I do think that the game has a cool vibe overall. At the end of the day, many of the best side scrollers of all time have a very bare bones story so a story is not always needed in a game like this. To be fair, the more I played the game, the more I dug what was going on. They give us the premise of this virus turning people into monsters and that ended up being more than enough for me as I progressed through the game. I will say that the overall style and vibe of the game does make up for the lack of a compelling story.

Who Needs Courage When You Have A Gun?

If you get that Futurama reference you are awesome and we can hang out and have some Pepsi and pizza any time. Syahata’s Bad Day is quite a challenging game, it starts off really easy as you just melee attack the enemies, but it is the gunplay that makes things a bit more complex. Once the guns are introduced, enemies become much tougher and more frequent and you have to manually aim the gun which takes a lot of getting used to. I am not saying this is bad or anything like that, but it is not just a case of point and shoot like you (and I) may be expecting. There are boss battles, traps and there is your health and stamina meter you have to manage. When you get grabbed, you have a battle f**k system you have to fight out of. Oh, I also forgot to mention, the gun play in the game is not just challenging because of the aiming system, ammo is rather scarce, so you have to be sure before you shoot!

Holy Rat Balls

There is a scene in Syahata’s Bad Day where we see our heroic heroine get banged by a rat monster who has these big swinging balls…. That right there sets the tone for what the lewd content in this game is like. Hey, it is very well done and I can appreciate the monster designs and how smooth the animation is. Plus, I liked that the gameplay is in a kind of high end 16-bit pixel art style. The game looks fantastic, it really does. However, I cannot see anything past those giant swinging rat balls, I am pretty sure I am going to be seeing them before I sleep every night! Actually, who knows, perhaps if I am having trouble sleeping, I can just picture those big rat balls swinging back and forward like a metronome and that will help me sleep.

Pros:

• The main character is kind of badass and also cute
• The gunplay here is very challenging and I liked that
• This is not just a standard side scrolling action game, it has a bit of depth to it
• You may get a kick out of those giant swinging rat balls!

Cons:

• The story could have been fleshed out more
• The XXX content was more gross than sexy for me, did I tell you about the giant rat balls?
