Bacchanalia

I do have to say that I was a little worried about playing Bacchanalia as it has a mostly negative score on steam. Well, I decided to give the demo a try and I liked what I played so I did end up getting the full game. From what I understand, the reason for the negative reception to the game is that it was released in a very unfinished state. However, there was easily close to 20 hours of gameplay in the version I played and it ended up being a damn solid lewd visual novel that I did enjoy my time with.

The World Is But A Stage!

The plot of Bacchanalia is the kind of thing that is hard to explain, but when you are in the middle of it, it kind of makes sense. Our main character is a lovely young girl who has just graduated college, but due to her mother falling ill, she needs to make money fast. She ends up taking a job as an actress to get extra work so that she can make a quick buck. This puts her on a very interesting path that may have more at stake than she could ever realize!

The Writing Is On The Wall

I love the way that the story in Bacchanalia is presented. The opening chapters are incredibly well done as they let us know our MC, her desires, troubles, dreams, and so on. We get a real connection with her which then makes the flow of the rest of the story feel much more personal. I also love how it clearly introduces the main antagonist early on too, and this is all wrapped up before you beat the game and a new antagonist is introduced, it is like playing through season 1 and then season 2 of a show.

Behind And In Front Of The Camera

As Bacchanalia is a lewd visual novel, you of course have a few interesting characters that you will be interacting with along the way. What I liked about this is that they are all to do with the theatre and acting as well, we have a director, a producer, a fellow actor, and a reality TV style star as well. It makes for a very interesting cast of love interests and you get to know each one pretty well as you progress through the game. You do get to make some choices and the rate at which it dishes these out is quite frequent which I liked as it really does keep you on your toes and make you pay attention.

Keeping Up Your Persona

I fell in love with the whole visual style of Bacchanalia when I saw the trailer! I knew before I even played the game that this was going to be something that at the very least, I was going to be into visually. The presentation here is just stunning, it kind of reminds me of the art style of Persona 5, but with a bit more of an anime look to it. As well as looking great, this game also has a fantastic soundtrack and it is even dubbed so you can listen to the characters talk.

Pros:

• I was super into the whole theatre and acting setting of the game
• The story is very well written and presented in a good way
• You feel like you get to know these characters which gets you even more invested
• The art and the sound in the game are awesome and make it even more engaging

Cons:

• For some reason, some people just do not like this game
• It is a pretty big time commitment for a lewd visual novel so that may put some people off
