Fast & Furious: Showdown is a racing game set in the Fast & Furious universe and follows the story of some of the characters from the popular film franchise. Originally released in 2013, the game has a unique story that bridges the gap between the 5th and 6th films, giving Fast & Furious fans something new to enjoy. Some of the features of the game are outlined below.

Story missions around the globe

The main story mode of Fast & Furious: Showdown features a variety of missions that take place all around the world. Some of the locations include Moscow in Russia where you take control of Shaw and Letty Ortiz and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil where you control Brian O’Conner and Tej Parker. Though there isn't a huge amount to the plot of the game, the main enjoyment comes from the races anyway, so it's not a huge problem. Next, we're going to go over the gameplay a bit and talk about what you can expect from it.

Co-op missions and destructive driving

The game revolves around co-operative driving, with each mission involving two playable characters. This means you can play through the entire game with a friend if you want to, which we think is pretty neat. If you'd rather play alone, though, you can enlist the help of an AI partner instead.

Mission objectives vary and aren't always the same, so expect some variety there. One moment you could be involved in a regular race to the finish line, and 10 minutes later you could be on a mission where you have to survive as long as you can. There are even moments where you’ll have to hijack other cars!

Driving and the simple mechanics

The driving mechanics are very simple in Fast & Furious: Showdown, which makes the game accessible and quite easy to get the hang of. You can drift around most corners which is fun, and some cars even have nitro abilities!

Another thing worth noting is that the cars have health bars in this game, so you’ll need to be careful not to hit objects and other cars too much. The more damage you take, the more beaten up your car will look too, which is a neat little feature.

Though the game is quite fun to play and mess around in, it can get a bit boring with the limited gameplay variety it offers. If you like the Fast & Furious film series and want to play something that's kind of similar, then download Fast & Furious: Showdown and check it out. However, if you're a hardcore fan of racing games, then you'll almost definitely prefer other games like Need For Speed or The Crew.
