Ever wanted to see mighty dinosaurs from the cretaceous period racing around in little diesel-powered vehicles? Then Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is the game you’ve always wanted to play! Featuring some of the fastest dinos (on karts,) this wildly entertaining racing game is a blast for players of any age.

While some of the mechanics powering Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart’s gameplay might not be as rock-solid as what we’re used to from games like Mario Kart 8, the game goes one step above the usual mascot racer in some key aspects. The result is a fun racer that players of any age can enjoy due to its responsive controls and beautiful visuals.

Race in the Stone Age

A key aspect of Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is its prehistoric setting. While most kart games use futuristic themes, this game’s stone age period actually influenced some of the racing mechanics. Things like stone-age-themed item pickups and prehistoric kart designs are some of the first things players will notice about the game.

The level variety and map design also reminded me a bit more of Diddy Kong Racing than it did any Mario Kart game. There’s an emphasis on track obstacles rather than just being a pure racing game, which might work well for younger players who are still not amazed by racing titles.

Dino Looks

If there’s something that Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart does extremely well, that would be its visuals. Since the game is based on a Disney Junior animated show, players can expect lots of vibrant colors and friendly designs all over the game. However, for a kid’s game, Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart still packs some impressive visuals that will please even older players.

These visuals also give the gameplay a boost over the usual mascot racer. Unlike games like Garfield Kart, Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart feels like a solid racer that takes some real skill to master. That said, “skill” and “children’s game” are things that rarely go together, which is why this game offers a wide array of accessibility options.

Fun For Everyone

Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is a kid’s game first and foremost. This means that, even if the game is a competent kart racing title, most of the gameplay aspects had to be tuned with a younger player base in mind. However, this doesn’t mean that the title isn’t challenging to adults, but rather that it’s easier for kids.

Younger players having some trouble with the game’s winding tracks can turn on auto-steering. This mode assists players at every turn, making the experience much more enjoyable for them. There’s also a reading help mode designed for players with visual limitations or those who still can’t read well enough to fully enjoy the game to join in on the fun.

Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is a great racing game for younger players that should also keep older ones entertained with its undeniable charm and good controls.

  • Charming character designs
  • Surprisingly good race tracks
  • Solid gameplay mechanics offer assisted guidance for younger players

  • Turning controls can feel a bit finicky
