Racing games come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Motor Town: Behind The Wheel is a low-poly racing game with a unique twist. The game features ordinary vehicles like taxis, trucks, and busses, which you can drive to earn money to buy new cars.

The game is open world, multiplayer, and allows for so much more than just racing. The world is open to letting you perform a number of different jobs, roleplay with others, and more.

House Sim Meets Racing Simulator

Although it’s labeled as a racing game, that’s not quite true. The game has a rather rich mix of different genres. In the game you have a house, a garage, and a job. You can access new jobs by leveling up your driving. Driving can level up no matter what you are driving.

Different skills allow you to take different jobs. Racing skills for example, may let you eventually take the job of police. You have to drive a van before you can drive a bigger and better car. If you can’t afford the car you want to practice in, it’s possible to rent the car you want to try. It’s possible to interact with other players using your job, as an example as a police officer if you see another player swerving in their lane or speeding, you can ticket them. The shops also work, and it’s possible to get a cup of coffee and put your feet up at the café as well if that’s what you want to do.

Fantastic Driving

Many people take one look at Motor Town and dismiss it due to the poor graphics. It’s true, the graphics in this game are not great. Yet, if you overlook this game based on the graphics you’ll be missing out. This game’s key feature is how realistic the driving feels, even with a game controller. This game drives better than Forza, and that’s pretty amazing, especially for Motor Town’s relatively low price point.

Still in Early Access

Right now there are a few things that could be improved in the game. The biggest is that while it is open world, the map is not very good. There’s not a huge amount of things to do yet, and there’s a limit of 10 players right now. These things make the game a little bit less rich, but the game is still in early access. This means that a bigger map and more features are all but guaranteed. Considering how good the game already is, it’s exciting to think of the future as more features come online.
