Requiescence

Requiescence is a boy's love lewd visual novel and this game is fantastic in every sense of the word. Now, I played all the way through my first play through without the R patch and to be honest, I had no idea there was one until I saw it online. However, I do not feel that I actually missed anything by not having it. Hey, I love hot dudes as much as the next guy, but the story and characters here were so great, I do not actually feel like I missed out on anything as I had a fantastic experience with the game and I plan on playing through it once again at some point!

An Avenging Angel

The main character in Requiescence that we play as is a young man called, Kymil. Kymil has the power of ice and he was taught this by his uncle who he cared for a great deal. One day, Kymil’s uncle is murdered and he wants to avenge him, but the only clue he has is his uncle's journal which points him in the direction of a strange cathedral in the middle of a place known as the Dead Plains. The writing here is fantastic, it is like a mystery story with a love story wrapped around it and I was hooked right from the start.

Plenty Of Boys To Love

As well as the quest for vengeance, Requiescence does have a few interesting characters that you get to romance on your journey. There is Damian, Carrault and Kaul. I liked Kaul the best, he is an older guy with really badass long red hair. You get to chat with each guy and get to know them better. The story is just so engaging and it even has some great humor and the humor that the game has is not only legit funny, it also fits the overall tone of the story really well and never feels forced. I actually felt like I was on this adventure with these guys! The writer here truly did an outstanding job and I give them a big double high five for their storytelling abilities.

Choosing Your Own Adventure

As I have already said, Requiescence is a lewd visual novel so you should probably already know what the deal with the gameplay is here. You read the story and make key and sometimes more fun choices along the way. I think that the game does a very good job of making it easy to have at the very least an idea of what a choice may bring you down the line, especially in regards to which guy you want to focus on. The game is perfectly paced, it moves very quickly and I liked that, but I get why it may be a tad too quick paced and “convenient” in some places for some folks.

The Art Of Fantasy

I love the fantasy setting that Requiescence has and the artist did a wonderful job bringing this world and our cute guys to life. It may be partly because the writing is so good, but I truly felt immersed in this world and just loved when a new scene would pop up. You do get a few scenes of the guys getting romantic, but as I said, if you want the hardcore stuff, you will need to obtain that R patch. As well as looking great, I was very impressed with the sound design of the game too as the game actually has a bit of English voice acting!

Pros:

• Each of the guys is interesting in their own way
• I loved the story of revenge and discovery
• My choices felt like they mattered for the most part
• The game looks beautiful and the voice acting is great

Cons:

• You do have to be into boys' love to appreciate this
• Some may not like having to download a patch for the hardcore content
