I had a great time playing Ruins Seeker which is a lewd RPG that has fast paced combat and some awesome anime style art and a funky and amusing fantasy story. I would certainly say that this is more of an action RPG than a traditional one, but that is not meant as a bad thing at all. I had so much fun with this and while there were a few things that did not exactly click with me like I am sure they did with others, I still immensely enjoyed the time I spent with this game.

Reaching The Top To Cure The Curse

I would say that fantasy is the best way to describe the vibe of the story in Ruins Seeker. We play as a young warrior woman called Quem and Quem is the first adventurer in five centuries to step foot into Heavens Ladder, a dangerous dungeon that is full of riches. Well, Quem ends up getting a curse put on her by an evil that lives at the top of the dungeon and she needs to fight her way to the top to cure it. Do not worry, she is not alone as she has a companion in Vise who is there to lend a helping hand.

Looking At The Positive Side

While there may not exactly be a great deal of depth to the story in Ruins Seeker, I must say that I got a massive kick out of the way our two main characters would talk. They are just so upbeat and positive about things, no matter if it is getting banged by a goblin or a big ugly boss is standing in their way. I think that there is a bit of humor to the story and the way certain things are said or certain situations come about was great stuff. It is the kind of story where you must not take it too seriously if you do this then I am positive that you are going to have a lot of fun with it.

Now That Is A Sword

While Ruins Seeker has the RPG tag, I would argue that it is more of an adventure/action game than an RPG. The core of the game is running through the random dungeons, killing anything that moves, and then hopefully getting stronger and better equipment. The thing is, this is quite basic, I got a sword very early on and I never got a weapon that I felt was better than that so I had no desire to look for more loot. The combat is quick paced and while I can see how some may say it is shallow, I found something very addictive about just hacking and slashing away at enemies. There are also lewd visual novel elements in the game too where you will be tasked with picking your response in certain situations.

Now That Is An Internal Cam!

When it comes to the presentation of Ruins Seeker there is a lot here that I like. The way the game looks is quite unique as the gameplay does not take up all of the screen. You have ½ or ¾ of the screen being used for the gameplay and this is done in a kind of pixel art top down The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past style. We then get these high quality images on the sides of the screen when characters are talking or having sex. For example, early on I got caught and ravaged by this weird blue blob looking creature and it was happening “in the game” but I also got an animated scene of it on the side of the screen. I could do without the massive internal camera, but that is a personal choice and there are many who do like this kind of thing.

I was not sure what to expect when I started Ruins Seeker, but this turned out to be one very fun and very naughty lewd action RPG. For me, the best part about it was the hack and slash style of combat. I get that for some it is a bit on the repetitive side, but I had fun with this and found it to be quite addictive. I also got a kick out of the two protagonists and the way that they would talk to each other and the monsters that they would come across in the dungeon.

Pros:

  • I loved the two main characters
  • The combat was satisfying
  • The game was very exciting and fun to play
  • I enjoyed the quirky story that was being told

Cons:

  • The internal camera with the goblin was super gross!
  • Some people feel the combat is a bit too simple
