Slaves of Rome

During the era of the Roman empire, being a slave was a pretty hard life, as it was anywhere we suppose. Alongside the usual degrading work and lack of human connection you would have throughout your service, you won’t also have the fear of being persecuted for your faith or thrown into the Coliseum to fight for the amusement of your master. Well, that’s not any of your concern in this game where you are in control of your slaves and have the final say on what happens to them. This is Slaves Of Rome.

This game is rather unlike your typical adult game as you will be able to roam freely around environments and create characters too. If pressed the game does have some similarities to medieval adult title VIS, however, this game seems to be it’s own beast, pushing the boundaries of what is possible for these types of games.

The Spoils Of War

The plot begins with you returning from war and seeing as you were a slave trader before your departure, you lay claim to what you left behind. You have the choice of a male or female slave which is a nice touch and very accommodating of all sexual orientations. From there is a task of training your slave to be the best they can be and when you feel you have done all you can do, you can trade your slave and usually turn a pretty large profit for your efforts.

You control your slave’s behaviour through a mix of sex and punishment, the Roman version of the carrot and the stick I suppose. You can also build endurance through whipping, keep your slave fed and watered. It’s a rather complex set of mechanics that you might not expect from a game of this nature.

All Roads Lead To Rome

The game also has an absolutely outstanding set of visuals which only adds to the overall immersion that you feel throughout. The slaves are well designed, well-rendered and you can adjust their appearance depending on what your sexual preferences are. Then in terms of the environment, you have a series of areas that are quintessentially Roman with architecture and NPC models that you would imagine being present in that era.

The sound quality doesn’t quite match the level of the art style and visuals. The voices used for the characters are limited at best and the musical score is nothing to write home about. As a whole though, it’s handled well enough as to not be a negative asset for this game, just not to the same standard as the visuals.

UI makes up for this with a simple and easy to follow layout that makes all the tasks you’ll have to complete pretty intuitively. The controls also play into this design and you’ll find navigating the Roman Streets and getting down and dirty with your slaves an absolute breeze.

Veni Vidi Vici

It’s hard to get excited about games like this because they often let you down, promising the world and then only delivering a narrative-driven text adventure. Slaves Of Rome not only bucks this trend but delivers a series of interwoven mechanics and content to get stuck into.

If you love a slave trainer game, Slaves of Rome could be just what you are looking for. I was blown away before I even played the game, as I had seen some videos and screenshots of the impressive 3D visuals that the game has to offer. I love that we are in an age where making a lewd game that looks like a AAA game is something that is possible. This is a game that has some really awesome ideas, and I actually think that they nail a great deal of them, to be honest, and with a little more work, this could honestly be a must-play game!

The Days Of Rome!

I have always been a sucker for stuff set during ancient Rome, heck, Ryse: Son of Rome was the game that made me want an Xbox One day one! Slaves of Rome, as the title suggests, is all about being a slave trainer and trader in ancient Rome. We play the role of a male or a female if we prefer slave trainer, and we are the premier slave trainer in all of Rome. No one can train a slave better than us, and do some kind of political unrest, we now have found ourselves with an abundance of hot slaves that need our skilled hands and tools to make them the best sex slaves that they can possibly be.

Getting To Know You

One of the aspects that I was most excited about with Slaves of Rome was the thought that the slaves would have individual personalities and that I would be able to get to know them as I trained them. This was not as fleshed out as I would have liked to be honest with you. Perhaps, I bought into this more than the developer intended to be fair, but it all felt very surface-level with each of the slaves that I encountered, and I never really felt like I was getting to know any of them all that well. Also, I think I would have liked to have been able to keep a few and build a harem for myself. Sure, they do technically have individual personalities, but I thought this was something they could have done much more with.

Making Them Work For It

If you have played a slave trainer game before, Slaves of Rome is something that you will be able to get to grips with pretty early on. The full 3D nature of the game is pretty cool, and once you pick your gender, you get your first slave, and then you need to put them into different XXX positions, sometimes it can be with a toy or actually banging them yourself, all in the name of training them, of course. There is a real BDSM kink going on here, and the progression happens at a pretty quick rate, and then you move on to the next slave. What is here is more than decent enough, and it all worked very well. I was not sure if there would be some kind of optimization issues with the ambitious nature of the 3D visuals. But that was not the case.

Getting A Little Rough

The BDSM nature of the game is something that I am sure may make Slaves of Rome even more appealing for some people. This is done by whipping, spanking, and so on, and it never felt too extreme to me, but this could be a personal preference kind of thing. The 3D visuals in this game are honestly spectacular, and the lit by fire Roman slave dungeon setting was something that I thought was very cool indeed. There is a great selection of sex positions, toys and stuff that you can do with your slave too, so while it would be very easy to say that there is not a ton of actual gameplay here, what is here has more than enough variety to stop it from getting too repetitive.

• The individual slave thing could have been done better
• There is not a whole lot to the actual gameplay here

Soldiers conquer lands and fight for the glory of the Roman Empire. However, your clan is too powerful and powerful, so you reap the rewards of your conquests in the form of enemy women. Slaves are a valuable resource, not only for serving in palaces, but also for satisfying the lowest needs of Rome's upper classes. Your skills in training slaves in the bedchamber have long glorified your family and craft. However, your competitors are not napping, and your new product is still as inexperienced as ever.

They have character

Slaves of Rome is somewhat reminiscent of ComeCloser, only with a story. The girls are slaves, torn by war from family and friends. Some of them will be taciturn, some will be stubborn and not take orders. Each of the girls has a different personality and a whole tree of talents that are developed through bedtime. The more open talents, the higher the price on the slave market.

Taming of the Shrew

Of course you don't always have to work for results and sell slaves right away. You can easily use the ladies you like for your own pleasure. However, those who do not want to obey in any way need to teach only the whip, and even for this in the game there is a separate system.

Thus the game has several options for pastime:

• Teach slaves on the bed
• Instill discipline with a whip or other objects of torture
• Do a variety of quests, like "find a runaway slave"
• Just enjoy quality animation during "training"

Once trained, you can go outside

The developer has clearly made an effort to recreate the environment and the Roman streets and even the interior of the basements. All of the animations are quite realistic, as are the slave models. There's a woman for everyone's taste.
