Warm Snow

There's some kind of humorous connotation behind the name Warm Snow which brings potential players into a sniggering frame of mind. However, the game is anything but funny. It's a roguelike action RPG inspired by Chinese mythology's vast and exciting lore. It's been shrouded in mystery for a while but enters the fray as an explosive new addition.

Warm Snow is packed with an intriguing storyline, power-packed combat, and vibrant visuals. There's not much you could ask from a roguelike, but there's such a strange premise behind the game we're not sure if it will translate well. Let's see if it can appeal to the typical player and unravel the esoterism behind Warm Snow.

That Bizarre July Weather

Breaking down the narrative of Warm Snow isn't the easiest thing to do. Not because it's not well-written, but a lot of it appears to be lost in translation. The game is from China, which provides some obstacles in dialogue, objectives, and understanding what's happening. But if you can look beyond that, Warm Snow is a pretty exciting roguelike.

You'll be thrown into a world where Warm Snow is falling in the summer, driving everybody who touches it insane and ultimately transforming them into monsters. Players will take on the role of a warrior determined to unravel the mystery behind the Warm Snow and put an end to an era of darkness. At least that's what we think, anyway.

It's a bit tricky to keep up with all the twists and turns. However, we can safely say that the combat and progression mechanics are exhilarating. You'll use a series of ranged and melee-based weapons and skills that you acquire overtime to take on the mounting number of foes. The most thrilling part comes from the battle animations. They're sleek, colorful, and keep fights fresh.

The biggest positive to take away from Warm Snow is that it keeps you engaged in the game nearly throughout the entire playthrough. Yes, the narrative lacks cohesiveness, but the diversity in gameplay elements, combat, and outstanding 2D visuals efficiently manages to grasp player interest. Honestly, you can't say fairer than that. Warm Snow is an experience that trumps many roguelikes, even if it doesn't make sense.

Swift Vengeance

There is clearly a passion for making a good roguelike game instead of just producing quick money grabbing hack-and-slash that many similar games tend to do. Warm Snow is reminiscent of Hades purely because players can feel a dedication to better gameplay throughout the entire playthrough. The effort into the visuals, combat mechanics, and progression system underlines that.

The only game-breaking problem with Warm Snow is that the translations will frustrate undetermined players. Getting the best out of gameplay will require a lot of patience, considering objectives, dialogue, and progression mechanics won't make total sense all the time. But if you're willing to get your head around that. You've got a good roguelike waiting for you.
