It seems like there's some unwritten constitution in the gaming industry. Every major TV franchise has to integrate its characters into a copy-paste version of a popular genre or game. That's the case with Agent P: DoofenDash. This mobile game aims to target the popularity of endless runner games with characters from its Phineas and Ferb franchise.

So here we are with a mobile game where the series famous investigatory platypus runs aimlessly to stop evil from meandering through the Tri-State area. The whole concept seems a bit redundant considering the genre limitations. But it's worth seeing how Agent P: DoofenDash comes across as a clone of an already well-established series of mobile games.

Dashin' Be Doofen

Let's be clear; these endless runners are meant to be casual mobile games to pick up and play in bite-sized sessions. Why developers would try to incorporate a narrative into them is beyond me. Perhaps Agent P: DoofenDash needed to justify itself as not just another clone in the genre. It adds some phantom objectives to make players seem to be working towards something.

Agent P: DoofenDash is a pretty standard runner, though. The visuals are changed to match up with the Phineas and Ferb universe, where Agent P is the chosen protagonist to run, jump, soar, and collect coins to seemingly no end. So what's your aim? Like all the other titles - get as high a score as possible before you crash into some obstacle.

So are there any aspects of Agent P: DoofenDash that make the game stand out? The visuals pop on the mobile and bring the lighthearted Phineas and Ferb franchise to life. But ultimately, the game is an exact clone of any other running genre game, leaving gameplay uninspired and players unmotivated to give it a good go.

Even the attempt to make it more unique with the mission system doesn't help separate the game from the rest of the pack. Agent P: DoofenDash is only for players that would enjoy a Phineas and Ferb theme on their favorite casual mobile titles. There's not much more to be said - the game is predictable at best and hardly immersive.

Tired Runners

You've probably guessed by now that Agent P: DoofenDash is Temple Run in a Phineas and Ferb skin. We'll reiterate what we said at the beginning, that it's all too common to see the significant franchise make clones of popular titles. It's obnoxious to most players, but those that love the TV series may be enticed by the visuals featuring their favorite loveable characters.

The game runs smoothly and is relatively easy to play. But it's an easy feat to accomplish when you're copying every mechanic of an already established game. Alas, we could sit here and complain about this all day. Still, the reality is that significant media franchises will never be particularly innovative with their games. They're happy with the results of tried and tested games integrated with their intellectual property.
