Crazy Frog Racer

You may be amazed that Crazy Frog Racer is even a thing, but I will blow your mind even more by letting you know that this game got a sequel! Forget the sequel, we are just looking at the original game today. Look, The Crazy Frog was a bit of a phenomenon for a while, he was always on TV, his song was always on the radio and it was like he was a superstar that most people hated, but everyone knew who he was. Like anything popular, video games came calling and this is what we got.

Going For Gold

There is no story mode on offer here in Crazy Frog Racer which to be fair is not all that surprising as very few racing games back when this was released on the PS2 offered a story mode. This is just a case of trying to be the best racer you can and you do this by winning championships.

First To Last

The gameplay here is not as bad as you would think. I am sure that you were expecting me to say that all of the characters handle terribly, but to be fair, the handling of the cars is probably one of the better things that this game has going for it. I know! I am as shocked as you are, but the cars are not hard to drive at all in this game. The problem with Crazy Frog Racer is the AI. This game has no middle ground. If you haul ass and get a good lead going, no one is going to be able to catch you up! On the flip side of this, if you fall behind, no matter how good you drive, you will not catch back up to first place. This game does not mess around, you make one mistake and you are basically screwed!

The Annoying Thing

You probably expect that the song the Crazy Frog is known for is going to play non-stop, but that is not actually the case here at all. Instead, we have a game that is pretty much silent for the majority of it! There is a music thing you can listen to various tracks in, but the song you are expecting to be all over this game is not here! That may actually be a positive, but I was shocked at how quiet the game was.

I have to say that Crazy Frog Racer is not a horrible game. It is just a very dull and boring one. Races have no flair to them at all and even though weapons are plenty, races never feel all that exciting or get you pumped up to win. You have your championship modes, but there is also a battle mode, time trials, and so on as well.

Pros:

• The music is not as annoying as you would expect
• It features multiple characters to play as
• The cars actually handle pretty decently
• It has multiple game modes

Cons:

• The whole game is just so dull and boring
• The AI is either too bad or too good, no middle ground at all
