Fabledom

Casual city builders have become so popular, there’s almost no reason to download another one. There seems to be a city builder for almost every situation. Yet when it seems like there’s no room for even one more city building game, a new one comes along with a fresh take. Fabledom is that new city building game, and it is very unique. Instead of being a medieval village or a mighty city, Fabledom is about a fantasy kingdom. There are princes and princesses, and even flying pigs. You’ll have to balance city building in a whole new way for this magical game.

Currently in Early Access

Fabledom is currently in early access, with the plan for it to be released after a year of testing. The reason for this relatively long period of early access is for the developers to search for flaws and make the game as good as it can be. The full version will have 8 princes and 8 princesses, all with their own unique storyline, to help add spice to the game.

Missing a Lot of Features

It’s important to realize that at this time, Fabledom is not complete. The developers have made this clear. The game is playable, but there are some key missing features, and it’s not just the princes and princesses.

As an example there’s no fisherman’s hut for fishing, chicken coop for gathering eggs or chicken, iron mining or a blacksmith shop. These things will be added as the game develops, but right now the game is only just barely playable.

Super Cute Style

Despite the missing features, there’s a lot going for this game. Fabledom is extremely cute, and feels like Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim but more cartoony. The visuals in this game are by far what strikes you first, with the graphics nothing short of dazzling.

Not only are they crisp and well made, but the lighting for each scene was carefully and beautifully rendered. There’s a lot of other equally cute details dotted throughout the game as you continue on.

Replayability

The game also takes steps to aid in replayability. Every time you open a new game the map refreshes and though the countries on the map stay the same, the shape of them are different. Some features will be different too, like whether they have mountains in them. The game is currently about finding love while building your kingdom, but it’s evident eventually there will be battle as well. The game appears to be headed towards a robust and well managed city building game, with extra options and storylines to help keep things going.

Fabledom is a kingdom development simulation in a fantasy world, where not only the economy affects the prosperity of the country, but also the mutual love of the rulers. Start with a small group of settlers and develop your settlement into a full-fledged city with fortified walls. Build up the infrastructure and don't forget about folk festivals. Bring your kingdom to prosperity in the language of diplomacy, not war.
