I have to say that it feels like it has taken forever for Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons to officially get a release date. This is the latest expansion and it is so huge, I would argue it is giving you more than many other full games are giving you. Amazingly, this game was first released a decade ago and it has just gone from strength to strength. As I write this, we are a few weeks away from the release and I thought I would share with you guys some of the things that I think look pretty cool.
A New Cantha
The setting for Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons is Cantha which we first saw all the way back in the original Guild Wars. This place looks awesome and while I do not know all of the details about the story. What I have seen does look pretty epic, there are these steampunk style pirates called the Aetherblades that were in first seen back in 2013. Well, they are back and this “new” Cantha is in for some real trouble.
The Technological Old World!
One of the main reasons that I cannot wait to jump into Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons is that this new Cantha has really sparked my imagination. There is all this really cool traditional Asian style architecture, but then we have these other weird and technologically advanced looking things, like a giant ass holographic whale in the sky. The whole visual style here is arguably the most interesting we have seen from Guild Wars 2 since it was released a decade ago!
Enter The Jade Bots
There is plenty of things that are new in the gameplay department too. However, one that has captured my attention is the new mastery line tat for these Jade Bots which are little robots that will assist you during your adventure. I saw one in the trailer reviving a player and also giving them a boost while they were in the air too.
So Much To Sink Your Teeth Into
I am sure that we have only seen a small portion of what Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons is going to offer. What we do know is that there will be more mastery lines, new strike missions, more mastery types, a special multiplayer mount, and much more. I think that they have gone above and beyond with the new content here and when this launches it is going to keep a lot of people very busy.
It is easy to see why so many people are excited about Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons. Truth be told, I have just scratched the surface of some of the cool stuff that we know about is going to be included here. I am sure there are going to be way more surprises and cool things that we do not find out about until we play the game for ourselves. Guild Wars 2 fans have had to wait the better part of two years for this and it looks like it is more than going to live up to the hype.
Pros:
- I love the way this new take on Cantha looks
- It is the most visually impressive expansion to date
- I love the idea of this story they are telling
- There is so much cool stuff added to the game, but the Jade Bots are my favorite!
Cons:
- Of course, you do need to have played Guild Wars 2 to get into this
- It is coming out during a very crowded time for big game releases, will that affect the game's player base?
