I have to say that the whole premise of The Depths: Prehistoric Survival is something that sounds very cool. I do not care how old you are dinosaurs and extinct creatures are never not cool and with them being the focus of this game I am sure many people will have their interest piqued by it. Today we are taking a little look at what this game is about as well as some of the more interesting features that they have shown off so far.
Survive Or Thrive?
The idea of The Depths: Prehistoric Survival is that you play as a prehistoric creature and you are fighting to survive. Just imagine how hard this must have been back then as pretty much everything wanted you dead or wanted what you had! Evolution plays a part in the game and you are always trying to grow to become bigger and stronger so that your chances of survival will increase.
A Semi-Aquatic Egg Laying Mammal Of Action
If you get that reference, bravo! Anyway, the game is going to focus on a really specific set of creatures rather than just being all the cool dinosaurs. I think this was a clever idea and it will help to give The Depths: Prehistoric Survival its own identity. 20 creatures is a decent selection and you can decide to play as those that live in the water such as the might Mosasaurs, you know the giant water dinosaur from Jurassic World.
You can also play as semi-aquatic dinosaurs that live in places like swamps and caves, a great example of this is the Spinosaurus, think of that awesome scene in Jurassic Park 3: Island Attack on the river and there is no doubt that it will be the Spinosaurus that you want to play as.
Living The Dino Life
They are describing The Depths: Prehistoric Survival as a survival MMO. The idea is that you select your creature and then you need to do what you can to survive. There will be a quest system at play where you will grow and level up as you complete quests. This will improve the stats of your creature and then hopefully make your chances for survival much better.
There are many different environments in the game and I like how there are ruins underwater which will make playing as a water creature much more interesting. Exploration is a big part of the game, but if you get a little too curious you could end up in the wrong place with another creature that is way more powerful than you. They do have some interesting plans for a future update like mating and trying to win the favor of a mate which sounds rather neat.
It is very early days in the life of The Depths: Prehistoric Survival, but there is no denying that this is a pretty awesome idea. I am sure that most people will want to play as both a water and land dinosaur so that they can experience both sides of what this game has to offer. I just hope that they are going to be good at updating the game frequently with more content.
