There is something special about board games. They take us back to the old days, where everyone could be in the same room, without phones, and just have a good time rolling dice and making moves. As time has gone on, board games have become more of a niche industry. They still exist, but the market is being kept alive by hungry fans, rather than by a wide audience of people. These days, video games have taken the place of board games. While a much more solitary experience in most cases, there’s no denying the impact video games have had on media and entertainment in general. Now, those two worlds collide with Nemesis Lockdown, the video game adaptation of one of the most successful board games in recent history by InterStudio and Realms Distribution. The entire experience has been translated and recreated in a digital space, and the experience looks intense whether you’re a fan of the board game or not. If you’re interested in Nemesis Lockdown and all of the horrors it has to show you, here is everything you need to know.
Tried and Tested Gameplay
The video game adaptation of Nemesis Lockdown has been in development for quite a while and has undergone numerous changes over the course of that development. Through countless hours of testing and feedback, the developers have landed on a gameplay formula that both matches the board game and is extremely fun to play as a video game. Thanks to hundreds of thousands of playtesters, you can play Nemesis Lockdown in your own home and get the full experience without ever rolling a pair of dice.
True Sci-Fi Horror
In Nemesis Lockdown, you are not a space marine like in Alien: Fireteam Bravo, or an action hero with a ton of guns to shoot up the monsters and aliens you will face. You’re just a normal person who needs to complete objectives and get away as quickly as possible. In most other games, this would be a simple task. But in Nemesis Lockdown, you have a bevy of alien horrors that will attack you before you can make your escape. Limited weaponry, scarce ammo, and low health combine to amplify the fear you feel when the thing that was lurking in the shadows makes itself known.
Awesome 3D environments and UX
Compared to the standard board game, the video game adaptation of Nemesis Lockdown is a much more immersive experience. The dark oppressive space stations and monster-filled hallways come to life in incredibly detailed 3D models and textures. Special effects and smooth animations make random encounters and events infinitely more scary and tense.
That attention to detail also extends to the UX of the game, which is designed to show you just what you need, while not bombarding you with numbers and calculations. It’s difficult to be scared when you’re doing math problems in your head!
