Management simulators tend to follow a pretty standard formula, whether you are placed in charge of a business, theme, park, or even a restaurant. If the standard management sim is starting to feel a little boring to you, then allow us to introduce you to Organs Please.
Developed by TECHHOME and published by HeroCraft PC, Organs Please is a darkly comical management sim where instead of making sure you have enough ingredients or keeping park visitors happy, you’ll run a recycling factory that specializes in a specific kind of material: humans.
When Earth is threatened with annihilation, there is limited space for people in the spaceship that will allow them to escape into the stars. It’s your job as a factory worker to decide who gets to stay around, and who gets recycled for resources to make room for higher-quality people. If this macabre management game sounds like something you’d enjoy, then here is everything you need to know about Organs Please.
A Tense, Yet Familiar Game
Organs Please might sound familiar to you if you’ve been entrenched in the gaming world for more than a few years. That is because the game’s title and gameplay are a play on the award-winning indie game Papers, Please from 2013.
Just like in that game, Organs Please will have you examining people and using the information provided to you to make a judgment call on if they can pass on and survive, or be sent to their inevitable doom. The only difference is Organ Please is a little more steeped in body horror.
In Organs Please, you won’t just be screening people. You’ll have a whole host of duties including overseeing the factory floor as well as constructing and upgrading the various facilities to be more efficient. The humans being recycled are being used to make the ship that will be humanity’s last hope, so make sure there are no mistakes!
There are unfortunately limited resources to complete the jobs you need to do and build the machines required, so make careful decisions about your next steps.
Hire Workers and Keep Your Bosses Happy
As a manager, you’ll be responsible for hiring the workers who run the various machines in the factory, and who you choose to run what is just as important as what you build. Each person you interview for the job will have their own personality traits and limits which you will need to carefully consider before hiring them. Remember, mistakes delay progress, which is really bad when the planet is scheduled for destruction soon.
Keep workers happy with amenities and promotions, and punish bad workers with the equivalent of an adult time-out. As you do this, you’ll also juggle orders from competing businesses to do their recycling for them.
- Interesting concept
- Almost mesmerizing gameplay loop
- Comical recycling procedures
- Concept might be a little too dark for some people
- Conflicting orders can get stressful
- A strange mix of art styles and presentations throughout the game
