Power to the People

Power to the People is a management and business sim kind of game and a game that I think could be one of the stand-out titles in this genre in 2022. What drew me to this game was the slogan, “do you have what it takes to keep the lights on?” and the whole premise of how it is not money that makes the world go around, it is actually electricity as everything that we do pretty much requires it. Today, we are taking a look at what exactly this game is all about.

Powering the People

Power to the People does have a single-player campaign that will see you starting an energy company. You need to provide people with power and your company will take you all over the world. Different countries will have different needs, challenges, and so on so there is going to be quite a lot of variety when it comes to the campaign. As well as the campaign, you can also have fun with the sandbox mode and there will also be weekly challenges for you to partake in.

You Got The Power

Depending on the country you are in, Power to the People will see you have to think and plan about what kind of power you want to use. Is nuclear the best option? What about sticking with fossil fuels? How about looking to the future with stuff like solar and wind? Stuff like this is great and each kind of energy that you decide to focus on comes with its own power plants, problems, buildings and so on that you have to deal with. There is a skill tree and various technologies that you can research to make sure you are always on the cutting edge when it comes to the power industry.

Always Growing!

In Power to the People, you can never rest! The city is always expanding and more people mean that there is more power required. You have to keep expanding and making sure that you have the right automated services in order to ensure the power is getting to the people in the city. If there are blackouts and people are without power, they will not be happy. If you have too many unhappy people, you could be out of a job.

Dealing With Nature!

As well as having to deal with the various cities always growing, Power to the People has other challenges for you too. Mother nature is always going to throw a spanner in the works. This can range from lighting storms frying the grid to solar flares causing all kinds of chaos. Reacting quickly and trying to minimize any damage is always going to be the best strategy here.

Overall, Power to the People is shaping up to be something that is pretty damn awesome. As I write this the game is not yet complete, but I am really liking what is on offer here so far.

Pros:

• The campaign is going to have you going all over the world
• There are different types of power plants for you to focus your business around
• There will be weekly challenges for you to take part in
• You can mess around in the sandbox mode to try and do creative stuff

Cons:

• As far as I can tell, no plans for any kind of multiplayer
• The visuals may not be all that appealing for some people
