ORO

Today we are checking out ORO which is a recently released (well as of writing) lewd RPG that seems to have a real mixed reception online. I think this is a game that has some very good ideas, especially in regards to the story which I feel is the strongest aspect that this game has going for it. However, there are just a few things that stop it from being truly great. I am very hopeful that the developer will not leave the game as is and do a bit of extra work on it.

Getting Back In The Game

The name of the game, ORO is actually the name of the character that we play as. ORO is a demon and he is retired. He is not exactly the most popular guy around and a tragic event around the death of a friend has made him pretty much just give up on life. One day though, an evil force arises and our demonic hero is the only thing that can stop it.

I think that the story they are trying to tell here is great. ORO is a demon, but he can also be good and how that all goes down depends on you. I think it makes him a very interesting character and I was certainly interested enough in his plight to stick with the game for quite a while.

Take It Easy On Me

I think that they were perhaps a bit too ambitious with the gameplay in ORO. It has so much going on! You, of course, have your wandering around talking to people, trying to do quests, and so on. However, there is a job system, cooking, sexual conquests and then we have the combat. The combat in this game feels very unbalanced. I can see many people getting turned off by the game after getting destroyed more times than they can count during combat. Sometimes you just have ORO, other times you have your party that you have built up right there on the battlefield with you. It is not that the battle system is too complex to figure out, the enemies just seem way too powerful. Sure, you can grind, but there is that much other stuff to do in the game, grinding feels more of a chore than it usually does.

Is My Face Red?

Visually, ORO is a decent looking game. You have your top-down view for most of the gameplay, but detailed character models will pop up around the screen. This is a very cool effect and the character models here do look fantastic. When you are in combat the visuals get a major upgrade and it is awesome to see, you see the back of ORO and the party, and then the enemies are at the top of the screen, in front of a background.

ORO loves to get laid so as you would expect there are a lot of sex scenes in the game. These are fully animated and they are done very well. There is also a very decent variety of sex scenes.

Pros:

• I liked ORO as a character
• There are some amazing character models in this game
• It has some very impressive animated sex scenes
• They tried to make the gameplay very deep

Cons:

• The combat is way too difficult, pretty much right from the start
• There are perhaps too many things that you have to do!
