FORECLOSED

Foreclosed is an upcoming futuristic, sci-fi, third-person shooter that takes place in a Cyberpunk-ish world. Developed by Antab Studios, and published by Merge Games, Foreclosed is arriving on Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 12, 2021. The game’s announcement happened over a year ago, ever since then no updates were given, but Foreclosed left strong first impressions within the community.

Nothing Left to Lose

The story revolves around the fact that in this future every citizen has a chip implanted in your brain to be able to interact with the city's blockchain. These chips are paid for by companies that then have a right to control your identity until this debt is paid off.

Players take the role of Evan Kapnos, your run-of-the-mill everyday ordinary guy, But the company that retains the right to your identity gets mysteriously Foreclosed. In a similar fashion to any other goods that have been Foreclosed, your chip, and consequently personality, goes up for auction.

As soon as the game kicks off things escalate pretty quickly for our main protagonist. What we thought would be a simple case of settling paperwork in court becomes a mysterious journey of something bigger than ourselves. As you explore the city Shady characters and strange events start to happen, and now you are invited to uncover this conspiracy, solve your situation with the government all the while trying to stay alive.

Coming Back to Life

From the scarce footage that we have from gameplay Foreclosed will allow players to employ different combat approaches, things such as stealthy hacking brain implants of enemies, go out full guns-blazing, or using special abilities are some of the different ways players can tackle the game. And here the developers made a great job of fusing core gameplay mechanics with the main concepts of the game.

Summary

Foreclosed might have some RPG characteristics however it is not an open-world title, creators made it very clear that the story of the game is very linear and they believe that this narrative-driven approach helps convey their artistic vision better. Even with this futuristic, dystopian, cyberpunk style Rising in popularity this game makes itself unique by approaching the title as if it was a graphic novel. The fact that every single action, transition, and even cinematics are stylized to look like the panels from a comic movie, makes this a unique experience.
