Beyond Mankind: The Awakening

What we have here with Beyond Mankind: The Awakening is a game that for me came out of nowhere! This is an action RPG with some survival style mechanics sprinkled on top for good measure. It has a very cool sounding sci-fi story that I think is going to be what really drives me (and many other people) to play through this what sounds like a very epic adventure indeed.

Awakening From A Nuclear Winter

The whole premise of the game as a sci-fi fan is something I am very excited about. Beyond Mankind: The Awakening takes place in the future of 2121 and Earth has been through a great deal. It is just starting to come out of a nuclear winter and your created character needs to head to the surface (and below) to deal with his new dominant species that has risen to try and make it so it is safe for humans. It sounds great stuff and I am sure there are going to be some great side quests that flesh out this horrific Earth too.

Finger On The Trigger

The gameplay of Beyond Mankind: The Awakening sounds very interesting. If you were to watch a trailer, you would probably think it is just another first-person shooter, but that is not the case at all, it is far deeper than that. This version of Earth has many interesting locations, settlements, and hidden areas for you to explore as you try to save mankind and make the planet safe for humans once again. I would say that it is an FPS in the same kind of style as the Fallout games are.

Making The Right… Or the Only Choice

One of the most interesting aspects of the gameplay to me is the way you have various social interactions to deal with. You can even have a romance going on too! The game is going to throw many missions your way and some of these will put you between a rock and a hard place. The game is going to throw some very difficult decisions your way, some of which will leave you with no good option!

More Than Just Shooting

I mentioned how Beyond Mankind: The Awakening is not just another shooter and this is really evident in its RPG and survival mechanics. Leveling up, becoming stronger, and getting new items and upgrades is a key part of the game.

As is the survival aspect of the game, here you need to make sure that you have enough food and that you have the right kind of clothing and equipment for when you are in certain areas.

Pros:

• I love the wasted Earth that is the playground for this game
• There are some interesting survival mechanics
• The game has a very dark and disturbing kind of visual style
• It is action packed, but you do have to think a great deal as you play too

Cons:

• Not sure if the crafting and survival mechanics may slow things down a tad
• The game world is cool, but maybe a bit of color would have made it even better
