Summer of 2021 has some great games lined up and one of those is HighFleet. While this looks like it is going to be a good summer for video games, some are getting lost in the shuffle such as this one here which is why I wanted to give it a bit extra special attention and hopefully get more eyes on this. This is an action-packed survival/strategy game and one that I think is going to be a lot of fun for people who like more action in their strategy games.
Taking Control Of The Kingdom
I was surprised at just how story-driven HighFleet looked to be. The game is set in a future that is torn by war and you play as the commander of the Sayadi Task Force and you need to take back control of the Kingdom of Gerat in any way that you can.
What at first looks like is going to be a story just about war, there is a lot of “lore” here and there will be some great twists and turns that you guys will not see coming.
The Desert Of War
I love the way that this game looks. They have gone for a more realistic style in terms of the visuals and I love it. The game I would say is a sci-fi type story and I think that the presentation of HighFleet is very sci-fi which is great. The battles take place over a desert type setting, but there is a bit of variety here too. I love it when it is dark and there is all dust coming up from the ground and you can see the flash of gunfire. The parts of the game that are not on the battlefield also look pretty good too. The screen has a kind of “Fallout” thing going on which I see as a plus. One of the other ways that this game nails the presentation is with the creation tools. This has a ship editor that lets you design your dream ship, not just from the way it looks, but the way it operates too.
The Destruction Of War
The gameplay that you will be experiencing in HighFleet is very deep. The trailers that you can see of the game are more about the action and all of the battles that take place and that is great. Yes, the battles are quite important, but what happens before and after the battles is also very important. You will have to manage your fleet of ships that offer you upgrade paths to improve them. You also need to manage your troops as well, but there are things that your army needs such as fuel and resources so there is quite a bit of resource management in the game as well.
If you have always wanted to play strategy games, but felt put off by the “barrier to entry” I feel that HighFleet is the game for you. Yes, there is a lot of resource management and things to tinker with before you head out onto the battlefield.
However, I do feel that the action here is more spectacular than many other strategy games I have played over the last year or so. This to me has all the makings of an epic game so be sure to take a closer look at it.
